2012 - 2013 Playoff MVP

I know we're all still upset about yesterday night, but who do you think was the Leafs playoff MVP?

I'd have to go with Reimer on this one.

James Reimer was the only reason this was a 7 game series.

Kessel. Played with an unprecedented level of grit and determination as a Toronto Maple Leaf, and he was our most dangerous player overall throughout the series.

Reimer showed flashes of brilliance, but he let in too many soft goals over the course of the series, and he was partially responsible for failing to preserve a 3 goal lead in the late stages of a game 7.

Reimer - Only reason series went to game 7.

Kessel - exorcised his demons against Bruins.
Phaneuf - Many will question my pick for Phaneuf but he willed his team down 3-1 in series and slowed down Krejci's line once he was matched to them.

It's between Reimer and Kessel for me. Lupul didn't play enough, Kadri kind of disappeared after the Sens hattrick, JVR was inconsistent throughout the year but an argument could be made to name him our playoffs MVP, Phaneuf was good in the regular season but not MVP good, we all know what happened in the playoffs with him.

Voted for Reimer because like everyone else said he is a major reason why the Leafs took the Bruins to a Game 7.

For me it was between Reimer, Kessel and JVR. I chose Reimer for the sole fact that he put the team on his back in Game 5 and Game 6

Reimer, JVR and Kessel were all great. If JVR can be that kind of player consistently, oh man.

Reimer. Easily.

Gardiner and JVR were unbelievable as well. Kessel was impressive as well. Grabo probably won't get much love around here but I thought he was fantastic. It would have been nice if Grabo had more points to show all the work he did.

Gardiner.

Leafs would of gotten killed if he didn't give the leafs needed speed to rack up goals and eat serious minutes.

Then again, the same can be said for Reimer/JVR/Kessel.

Reimer aside (too easy he's the goalie, i.e. our most important player).

Kessel or Franson for me. Both absolute standouts all series.

I wonder what all the Nazemites think of their boy not being one of the 10 options? Surely he's in the conversation, right guys? But anyway, this is all Reimer without much of a reasonable debate. Kessel was awesome, but as good as he played we still had a chance without him because our strength on the wing is apparent. If Scrivens is between the pipes we have zero chance. Reimer was our MVP for the season and for the playoffs, no doubt about it. Without him we are chasing Jones in the lottery.

I'm going to say JVR. Reimer is close, but he still had a couple of weak outings.

JVR was a ppg player in the series. The goal he potted where the puck was basically in his skates was crazy, and he had a couple other chances where he just barely missed putting the puck in the net. Not to mention having him in front of Rask most of the time definitely helped out the rest of the team in terms of scoring. He had some lulls during the season, but he really stepped it up IMO in the playoffs.

Gotta go with kessel.

The kid stepped up huge, with ALL eyes on him.

he had the biggest baddest defensive juggernaut defenseman maybe in nhl history sicced on him all series long..and he fought through and led the team in goals anyways, not to mention battled physically as well. he also showed that it's him, not lupul, who is the real goto forward on the team...which actually surprised me.

reimer was very good, but made too many mistakes to deserve mvp imo.

Those that are saying Riemer are clearly too young and have never watched an elite level goalie play for the Leafs, like Belfour, Joseph, Potvin, etc.

But compared to Toskala and Raycroft though, he's an all-star.

And I would go with either Kessel or JVR.

Reimer was good, don't get me wrong, and was probably the playoff mvp or co-mvp, but you guys just freak out when any blame is pointed at him. News flash, everyone shares part of the blame, and Reimer is not exempt from that.

Ummm I'm pretty sure he's correct in saying that. Reimer is partially responsible, just like anyone else in a leaf jersey. I don't know why you think he's exempt for criticisms. He was good this series, but not without flaws.
