Yup.

Done by lunch. No need to let it linger all week.

I don't know, I just have this sinking feeling that this is going to drag on. It's my belief that this organization likes to torture it's fans... Kinda like how a cat will play around with a mouse before it eventually goes in for the kill.

But by lunch tomorrow seems equally plausable as well.

Well they will keep him on, go on a run to game 4 of the finals.

Up 5-0 after the first with a 3-0 series lead.

They lose 6-5, 3 goals in final 2 minutes. 20 seconds into OT.

proceed to get blown out 2 straight games.

Lose game 7 in OT.

Aquilini announces he's moving the team to Toronto.

Messier is hired at GM.

Due to scheduling conflicts the team has to remain in the division for a year.

All Toronto SCF.

I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the defensive deployments we saw in the playoffs. It just defies reason IMO.

I was looking at some numbers from the regular season on how the Sedins did with various defensemen at ES. Here's the GF and GA per 20 minutes when the Sedins were on with each defenseman:

Hamhuis:

GF/20: 1.451
GA/20: 0.276
+1.175

Garrison:

GF/20: 1.419
GA/20: 0.523
+0.896

Edler:

GF/20: 1.080
GA/20: 0.405
+0.675

Bieksa:

GF/20: 1.003
GA/20: 0.702
+0.301

Pretty good numbers all around, but it's pretty clear that when they played with Hamhuis-Garrison they were absolutely dominant 5-on-5. They scored over 5 times as many goals than they gave up with Hamhuis. In fact, the Sedins' GF/GA with Hamhuis have been consistently phenomenal since he arrived in Vancouver. And this season was one of the best of the Sedins' career in terms of 5-on-5 play (both in terms of shot differential/Corsi as well as goal differential) in large part because of the effectiveness of that defense pairing.

So what does the coaching staff do come playoff time? Well obviously they play Edler-Bieksa with the Sedins pretty much non-stop. Despite forming a pretty dominant unit with the Sedins during the regular season, Garrison ended up getting only about 2.5 more minutes with the Sedins all series compared to what Corrado got, and Hamhuis didn't get much more. Instead the Sedins got the honor of being chained to a hobbled Bieksa for over 50% of their TOI all series.

playoffs TOI

season TOI

jesus. im all for trying to rework the setup next season so we can have two full power based 5 man units (ultimately having edler and bieksa with the sedins) but to suddenly just attach the bieksa anchor in the playoffs seems kind of ridiculous

^ Haven't looked into it, but did Edler-Bieksa perform better with another line compared to Hamhuis-Garrison? Could be that Hamhuis-Garrison did better with all lines.

Canucks need to create another solid pairing.

Add Douglas Murray? I think he'd be a good addition if they keep Edler.
