On Wednesday night I watched the end of the Leafs game at home before heading out to a bar wearing my Edler jersey to meet my friend to watch the Nucks. I was on the Bathurst streetcar waiting for it to leave when this guy in a Bruins jersey gets on. He immediately starts getting heckled by Leafs fans which he ignores until obviously one drunk (and fat) guy starts taking it too far and yells "let's ******* him up".
No one on the streetcar really has any enthusiasm for this, but Bruins guy finally starts chirping back. He says "yeah I'd be angry too if my team played like that tonight", then turns and points at me and goes "what about this guy in the Canucks jersey?". I look back at him and say "I'm about the only non-Leafs fan in here I don't know why you're trying to get on my bad side". He won't let it go though and starts going on about how Edler turns the puck over all the time. At this point another guy, who looks like a hobo with like a dirty parka and a big beard, turns around and starts yelling about how the Bruins are only good since they steal all the good Canadian players. "They did it to Orr, they did it to Gretzky, all those Americans are crooks!"
By this time we're at the next stop and a guy in a Sharks hat gets on, we make eye contact and I give him a nod and he nods back. Then Bruins Fan starts clapping and says "Let's go sharks!", to which Sharks Hat Guy gives a chuckle and goes and sits down. Then this whole interaction gets interupted by a drunk guy who looks about 19 who starts yelling across the streetcar trying to get the attention of his fried to ask what stop they were getting off at. His friend turns around and goes "We're going to College Street Bar. It's on College Street. That's where we're getting off". The streetcar then arrives at College Street and most people get off, including Bruins Guy, Fat Leafs Fan, and Drunk 19-year-old.
