Maybe add Weber or something. I wouldn't be so sure. As far as I can tell (from Minnesota fans) they don't have much of a use for either of the pieces mentioned. A guy like Gionta would give them so good veteran presence and secondary scoring when they inevitably try and make a run next year. Plus he's from murica.

You're right, he's not soft enough and he's over 5 foot 8.

Oh for the love of God; the Man was NEVER consistent; He dissappeared for long long stretches of time.

For years he tempted us with his skill and disappointed us with his work ethic, consistency and lack of motivation.

You couldn't tell if he was in an exhibition game or a playoff game.

That speaks to the man's character...or doesn't it?

Ryder = Kovalev = Kotsitysn; they very in what skills they bring to the table, but dissappoint you in end.

MB will never bring him back.

Some real short memories around here.

Nashville, his last NHL team thought he was a bad teammate. Bad enough that he was benched for breaking curfew during the playoffs and his teammates who were all consulted before he was benched agreed he should be sat out along with Rads. So that's proof right there.

He also had 2 20 goal seasons and averaged .56 points per game and didn't manage to crack the Florida Panthers line up this year. Not exactly impressive numbers under any circumstances and he played with Kovalev during his career year.

That being said I'd love to know anyones rationale as to why on Earth when we're trying to get bigger and more gritty would we WANT to sign him. Sure we "COULD" as could any other of the 30 NHL teams but it seems noone wants him either. The guy brings nothing to the party that we either already have or are trying to get rid of.

So why would the Habs want him and his career .56 ppg avg back????
All his team-mates were being yes men,of course they would back management.
I know AK47 could be aggravating to watch some nights, but I would be willing to sign him a 1 year contract. We're still re-building,what could it hurt?We have given other ex-Habs a kick at the can.He might be able to prove something, strong on the body check, can dangle with the best...when he shows up,good for 25 goals.I really don't see anyone else that talented....breathe,that we will aquire through FA or a trade that would cost us.He's free, give him a shot,we tried Army.

If it doesn't work out ,don't resign him...no loss

MB will NOT bring back A. Kosty
MB will NOT tarde for a 1st round pick in this years draft or likely any other draft
MB will not blow up the team and trade 5+ spare part players from our current roster and replace them with stars players from other teams
MB will not trade 2 or 3 prospects to get a ready now player to come into the line up for next year

I think if we can stick to not including these scenarios the thread may go a little bit better. Using any of the above scenarios will likely result in you not being taken seriously and losing any and/or all credibility.
Apart from the bolded, I agree. But why do you exclude the possibility that Bergevin would try to move up and grab another 1st round pick? Unless you meant a top 10 pick, then I agree.

I think the bigger changes will occur next year, when Gionta and Markov's contracts are done. I think then one of DD or Pleky will be traded. Not this summer because they still want an insurance policy at center in case Galchenyuk is not ready for a full time role as a top 9 center next season. Plus, trading Pleky now would greatly affect the team next season and DD's value is at its lowest (and we just re-sined him so that woul look bad). With one more year of experience for Eller and Galchenyuk, I think next summer one of our centers will be traded.

For this summer, I'm really just expecting one or two bottom 6 signings; hopefully Bickell and someone like Nystrom. Then next season, Boll is a free agent

Oh please name me one consistent player this year beside Subban. We've never really ever had one of these ''consistent'' players. Akost has averaged 20 goals in his 5 full nhl seasons. The kind of number a 2nd liner usually does. Would it hurt that much to have him on the 3rd line as a depth scorer? You people can't deny that he's shown great chemistry with Eller and Pleks. As much as I like Prust, he's not fit to play with our two best centers. We need more talented players that can play at the same level as these guys. Andrei will play in the NHL next season. Book it!

And to that guy that said that he coudn't make the panthers roster, he never even made it to the training camp. He had to honor his KHL contract.

Kostitsyn-Eller-Moen were dominant at times but I really can't see MB signing A.Kost, but stranger things have happened.

Who would you replace in the line up for AK?

After thinking about it again, Torres I think would be nice to have, but he's watched like a hawk by the league and anything a toe over the line and he gets rammed with a suspension. Not what the Habs would want, but definitely could use his size and physicality (provided he stays within the boundaries of clean hits).

I'll take him on our team getting suspended for injuring opponents over having him injure our guys.

What?????

Umm Pacioretty over the whole season last year was consistent and had a slow start due to his injury this year, but was still consistent through about 2/3 of his season.

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/4261/gamelog

Which hockey games were you watching this year...?

Pacioretyn was so inconstant that he found a way to finish first in points this year.

We've done an unbelievable job changing the culture and you guys want to bring back a lazy enigma like A.Kostitsyn? Sometimes I really do realize how stupid our fan base is. Thank god MB isn't this easily convinced.

Talking about AK, well Darche was on LAC and didn't have much good to say about AK. He also didn't have much bad to say either. A guy with his talent should be a 30+ goal scorer and even 40 on a great year. Build like a tank, hits like one, laser shot and good skating but it's between the ears that everything goes mush.

What did he say his problem was? Effort? Hockey sense? Confidence?
