Very nice statistics, but it's a merciless (and actually not a very sportsmanlike) system - all that might come to nothing but warm memories if you lose today. The quarterfinal is called the "death match" in Finland, because it can kill your tournament... I will certainly cheer for Switzerland but the Czechs looked scarily fresh and sharp against Norway.

I am optimistic.

It will be a tough one, but it's possible to beat the Czech Republic.

3-2 for Switzerland.

Swiss are underdogs so fans are cheering for them, but this will be close. Hope the game will go to OT and bring a lot of good hockey. On the other hand Czechs have a lot of stellar players who are able to decide the game on their own.

Yeah, in Slovakia too. It's a borderline between success (SF+), meh performance (QF) and dissapointment (no QF). At least for us.

So far great performance from Swiss, but real deal will be quart. Sorry guys but I cannot see you can beat Czechs. I am looking forward to see the match, but my prediction is around 4:1 Czechs. It will be pretty hursh for Swiss and their amazing performance in group stage, but Czechs will be probably in final (maybe gold). Look at the line up from Czech. Pavelec, Michalek, Smid, Zidlicky, Voracek, Plekanec, Tlusty, Fleischman, Vrbata, Hanzal...Thats just 8 players whou are leading their teams in NHL. Few more players from NHL and a lot of players from KHL. Very, very strong line up. We will see... I hope to see great hockey.

Playoffs are always completely different ball game.

If Swiss can have good start and not get scored on early and are not only playing their own end, they have a shot at this.

Everything is in the hands of Gerber. It is as simple as that.

Quite the same thing here - I would say that SF is the minimum for a satisfactory tournament and a loss in quarters is a clear disappointment. Of course within the tournaments there is some individual variation depending on how the team has looked and what the expectations were, but the quarter final game is still the basic thing, the death match... It will be interesting to see how Switzerland will perform, will they maybe be less selfconfident and more mistake prone than in the group phase. If they can keep their tempo and their confidence, they would probably be slight favourites, but that's a very big question: it's a huge match for them....

I think that after 4 straight years without QF people (even the two weeks fans) have adjusted their expectations and QF is a good/okayish performance rather than meh.

Yay, Succes = F, Meh =SF, Disappointment = QF or worse

So we are not yet there. There, where only gold is succes.. But with this many silvers we have on Olympics, World Cups, WC's.. I think it's close for changing.
