Heard on the radio this morning that Datsyuk got a new deal with the Wings. Anyone got details?

Burish and Torres for 3 years and a combined 3.8+ cap in SJ now.
Too many pesos against the cap for garbage cans on skates. Torres one stride away from missing half a season or more and Burish isn't getting better at hockey any time soon. Wilson is one of my favorite gms, but he's left me scratching my head right now.

How much is Torres making?

I wouldn't compare him with Burish. When Torres isn't suspended, he's effective enough in his role. Burish is completely useless, though.

Quoting you just to give credit for first post on Torres.

The San Jose Sharks have signed forward Raffi Torres to a three-year contract that will keep him off the free-agent market next month. General manager Doug Wilson announced the signing on Thursday. Torres was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 5. Bringing Torres back was a major offseason priority for Wilson despite the forward's suspension for the final six games of the second round for an illegal hit on Los Angeles' Jarret Stoll. Torres provided a spark after being acquired from Phoenix at the trade deadline and had expressed a strong desire to stay in San Jose. Torres had two goals and four assists in 11 regular season games with the Sharks and also scored an overtime goal to beat Vancouver in the first round.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sharks-...0720--nhl.html The Sharks guarantee their popularity with NHL players and fans.

The Saddledome is currently under water.

There is water up to the 14th row of seating in the Saddledome, the jumbotron mechanical/electrical room has been completely ruined, and it isn't letting up anytime soon.

The whole city of Calgary is basically under water right now.

The Saddledome is a cool looking building, I hope they're able to salvage it.

What makes matters worse is that it floods so rarely in Calgary that almost nobody had flood insurance, so a lot of people and businesses are going to be both literally and metaphorically underwater.

And, to make matters worse, there's already speculation that the damage to he areba's so bad that it won't be useable next season, meaning that the Flames would have to spend all or part of the next season playing in a different market.

Saskatoon Flames for a year, maybe?

There will be an empty arena in Glendale next year...

They could go back to their roots in Atlanta.

Would seem like the most plausible location should such a situation arise.

I just want to make sure we all understand that Edmonton is 3 2/3 hours closer to Calgary than Saskatoon. I'm sure something could be worked out with Edmonton. They don't want the Calgary fans to get screwed out of the Saddledome and any Flames experience altogether.

It's very early to speculate on the stadium situation. Once the flooding subsides, then they can get experts in there to assess damage and go through proper channels to make a determination on the most appropriate steps to take for the following season(s).

the city has two rivers that go through it and merge downtown - that's where a lot of the water damage is.

it's not just a case of sewers and storm drains overflowing.

here's a map of the affected areas. https://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?msa=0...2C0.31517&z=11

as far as alternate locations for hockey, it depends how professional they want it to be. i think there's an ice rink at the stampede corral, but the building's capacity is only about 6,000 i think so they probably don't want that.

Well yeah they don't want a 6000 capacity arena...that would absolutely kill their revenue.
