And, yeah, 95% of Russian hockey fans hate FHR. The Fedotov's words aren't even that harsh compared to the general sentiments towards FHR and Tretyak.

"Open" list of club´s bosses as decline of FHR´s ideas (limit) is rumoured. Clubs are unanimous - no reduction of import limits, some of them claims that no limit is best option.

There has to be some limit. Otherwise junior hockey could be neglected.

Haven't you been reading this thread? Russians apparently don't care about their national teams, they care a about their clubs and it doesn't matter what nationality the player in them are.

Quite the opposite, we want our national players to get better in a tough environment, to see them prevail in a fair competition. What we don't want to see is even bigger inflation of prices for good Russian players. All the better if it makes our league stronger and more interesting to watch, for months and not just mere weeks.

FHR should make the number of foreign players set to unlimited.
Only this will increase the competition for Russian elite players and for some lefty **** players like Afinogenov or old players like Ozolins.
KHL is not longer "RSL"

Read probably the best comment from Alexander Barkov.

RETARDED FHR what for do they have VHL ?

Metallurg's vice president Gennady Velichkin also thinks that there should be no limit for foreigners for Russian teams because it gives an edge for non-Russian teams who have not the same limit.

And they should care only about it, if there a lot talented guys but they don`t play the main problem is somewhere else. Not good training/drilling methods. Perhaps physical condition should be trained by Spetsnaz. See CSKA players in 1960-1970s

If the level of play in the KHL is high it only helps the Russian national team. More good players, more competition. Players have to play harder to earn their roster spots and get playing time.

In order to create something in our particular country, you need some kind of political will. And it must be not only one side but also on the other. This political will is now not so noticeable, because everyone is busy with the Olympics. It is necessary to go through it, only then we will see. I think that in general after the Games in Sochi our hockey waiting for some reorganization. There are things that you just need to decide once and for all.

I agree. If the KHL decided to not care about the WC and the NHL is already not so much caring about it then the IIHF should look heavily to moving the tournament.

Aug/Sept would be nice

Last month IIHF posted an article that discussed the hopes of bringing together the United Hockey League led by the KHL.

56 teams, 2 conferences (West and East), 4 divisions (regional), expanding all over Europe and even a chance for an Asian team to jump in the mix. Teams that join the UHL can keep their spot in their domestic league as a reserve team.

They spoke pretty seriously about having this occur within two full years.

And they wish to implement a Champions League Tournament as well. 8 teams at first, growing each year steadily.

I think this will happen soon, though 2 yrs seems rather too soon. I think it will be great for European Hockey and hockey worldwide. And I believe they will need to do a few things:

1_ They need to keep their ties with the IIHF. Yet if the UHL seems to outgrow the IIHF, it will be wise for both to create a better annual hockey calender that keeps the WC, Oly, Champions League and other ventures.

2_ They need to create a loose rule on the amount of domestic league players. Each team should be forced to keep at least 12 players of origin to that country. Like World Cup and Olympic rules. Starting, not just on the roster. After that they can obtain anyone. So I dk if unlimited is the way to go but def not too limited. With it being an international league, you have to keep room open for transfers.

-- Also the reserve teams and the domestic leagues that are kept as farm leagues should enforce similar rules but a bit stricter. More like 16 guys and up to 4 foreign players.

Woah, there is a lot more to this article than simply saying the Champions League is back. I heard big rumors from good sources but this is pretty much stating what the IIHF/NHL agreed upon in a 10 year deal.

- Champions League starting 2015
- Winner of Champions League playing an NHL team to return the Victoria Cup
- World Championships I was not sure was an issue, but now thats a guarantee for 10 years. And I was not aware that the NHL accepted 10 year deal on this for the Olympics either... Including the 2018 and I believe the thing states 2022 Olympics too. GOOD GOOD.
- Opening up doors for NHL vs KHL games. Exhibitions and All star games. WOAH Love it

United hockey league plans have been put to rest long time ago. Don't know what article you've read, but most likely it's a couple of years old.

Seems in the end there wasn't an agreement on future Olympics yet, only Sotshi. Or they just haven't made it public. Also that All-star game is Kummola's brain child and doesn't seem to have gathered much support (no surprises there, few saw sense in it even here). Victoria Cup would first need a Champion's league winner before it could be arranged.

You are wrong about Victoria Cup, you dont need Champion's league at all, there is KHL and GC.

Since some people like to repeat themselves, I'll also repeat that the Victoria Cup is intended to be Stanley Cup champion versus European Champion's League champion.

Money wins, always

EDIT

I have to explain my words. NHL wants to make money from games against Euros. This goal can not be achieved if NHL teams play against small euro clubs from domestic leagues, it is possible only if they play against KHL clubs (not only russian, of course). Europe/ET has nothing to offer NHL.
