Iggy's been a bit enigmatic, sure. But Neal has just been lazy out there most of the time. If he's not injured, he needs to step it up. If he is injured, we need Bennett or Jokinen on that 2nd line.

I wonder if Alfie will tell him to shut up. They are definitely showing their inexperience in their comments

The only one I'll give you is that he should have scored off of Neal's pass. All the boneheaded plays on that PP were by Kunitz.

I think that people are seriously searching for reasons to hate on him. He hasn't even been close to being one of our worst players tonight.

Iggys looked kinda soff.. but Kunitz nearly turned a prime scoring chance into a goal against.. and Neal has been invisible.

I'd take Iggy's "almost got em"s to what the other wings are producing tbh

Honestly.. this team has so many stars, if only one shows up its enough. Last time Malkin, this time Crosby. Who do the Sens got?

No goalie is perfect. The fact he bounced back with stopping breakaways after gave up 2 goals. It showed some mentally toughness.

Haha so true. I don't get all this seconding guessing Vokoun all the time by media types and hockey minds. I've seen much less accomplished goalies carry much worse teams further than the second round. I really don't understand it. I'm of the opinion that a decent goalie can get hot for a possible 28 game stretch. Vokoun is someone I consider to be better than decent keeper who has played on some bad teams.

This is how I feel as well. I really think they rushed him back. It's sad as a hockey fan to see a player that talented struggling so much.

I liked how he then tried to take it back by saying "but he's playing like a number 1 goalie".

Yeah thats stupid stuff to say. If they go down 2-0 i can't see those punks rallying. Not the right mindset at all.

I'd really like to see us come out this next period and just trap, trap, trap and hopefully score one or two on turnovers.

Fair enough...we see it differently.

Sure, he's made a few mistakes...that was a TERRIBLE shot where he sniped Anderson with the open net, but I see him doing ALOT of good things out there. I guess I took issue with "terrible" as a description of his play. I reserve that term for someone who is CONSISTENTLY bad, not someone who is making a few bad plays amongst a much larger number of good ones...

If you zoom yourself in and focus on almost ANYONE, you can find a couple of bad plays per game, if that's what you are looking for. It just doesn't seem like a balanced assessment to me to say that Iggy has been "terrible" today...

In Malkin's defense, he's been busy playing defense for three at ES.

EDIT: Cole, is it me, or is the Malkin line just automatically defaulting to a center lock? Seems like any time possession is in doubt, Malkin is high and just outside of the zone and kind of has the green light to decide whether to step up after the first pass or lay back. Only time he wasn't high is the only time Ottawa almost buster out 3 on 2.

That's where Vokoun is strong. He doesn't get shaken up when he makes a mistake. He lets it go and moves on without letting it shake him.

This will be the first time we went up 2-0 in a while. Of course there's still 20 minutes of play left, but we're playing way too good to let this lead slip away.

For those of us old enough to remember him in his prime, Tommy B was infuriating with some of the **** he'd give up. But, when you needed the big save, at the big moment, he'd make it. THAT is what you need from your goalie, and THAT is what Vokoun has been doing.

I still think the defense hung him out to dry on that second goal. Yeah he could have stopped it, but the defense might as well have just stood at the blue line and given him the go ahead.
