Have to agree that these two teams are almost carbon copies of each other. The only real difference is the type of defenceman each team rolls out. Philadelphia uses defenceman that are better suited for the powerplay. Providence uses a bigger stronger defenceman that do better on the penalty kill. Strange enough Philadelphia has had a superb penalty kill and Providence has the outstanding powerplay. IMO this series will come down to special teams, Philadelphia has quite a few people that can get under your skin so Providence better keep their cool. Skonley, Pitkanen, Eager, Gratton, Cote, Meloche, and Kane are all people that take penalties but manage to take other people to the box with them.

Should prove quite interesting, as the P-Bruins have several guys who are very adept at taking stupid/silly penalties all on their own. Hope the coach knows enough to tell them to not let the Phantom pests get under their skin.

Gord Dwyer (the Lock Monsters' best pest) didn't manage to rattle the P-Bruins in the last series, but who knows what Philly will throw at 'em.

Just curios what the D pairings have been for Philly.

Did I read some where that one of your starters is out with an injury?

Was, but Seidenberg came back for the last game. He broke his finger, so in his own zone he should be fine. I still want to see if he can shoot like normal in the next series, because that is probably his best asset. Seidenberg has an absolute rocket of a shot.

Pitkanen-Meyer
Seidenberg-Skolney
Jones-Slaney

Are the pairings.

canadahockeygirl- How could people be buying tickets the minute they went up 2 goals against lowell. Eastern conference Finals tickets didnt go on sale until May 16th at 10am. Is there some other way?

Does anyone know whats wrong w/ Martin Samuelsson. Is he just scratched in favor of thompson/daw or was he injured at some point. Only injury I know of is to LaCouture(broken foot or something)

They did. And the box office was closed when I went to get some.

Martin Samuelsson suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1 against Lowell. I don't think there's been any determination when he's expected back in the line-up.

Phantoms is 5. Looking for another big series from Carter. I'm going to the game in Philly on Saturday, so I'll post some pics from the game when I get home.

Can only hope he will be back soon. I just bought one of his Providence jerseys. Get well soon Martin.

Lines for the Phantoms tonight

Sharp - Carter - Ready
Sim - Richards - Kane
Fedoruk - Umberger - Meloche
Cote - Stafford - Gratton

Eager not ready to go yet, Murphy is the vet scratch, and Voce also in the press box.

Looks good, but I'm not so sure about Boyd Kane joining the Richards line with Sim. If I'm not mistaken, it seems like Kane tends to take some bad penalties

Game one under way and...

Phantoms take an early 1-0 lead off of a Meyers goal I think.

Freddy Meyer (powerplay) (Mike Richards, Jon Sim) 4:53

Mike Richards just keeps racking up those points

On a separate note, this commentator seems much better than the two major homers I had to listen to against the Admirals and Penguins.

SH goal? Meyer again.

I'm sure it has been asked many times before, but does anyone know why PHI don't have a radio broadcast while almost all other AHL teams do?

Ben Eager is in the lineup though....

Who is the scratch then?

Good, though I would rather have Fridge than Cote or some of the others.

Ah-hmm, Kevin Dallman.
I assume you're referring to Milan Jurcina, Andy Alberts and Brent Thompson. But, along with Dallman, Alberts and Jurcina are quite capable on the PP.
Providence's 5-on-4 is excellent, especially at home. And puck players tend to make better PKers, anyway, where you can't afford to subtract a forward at the price of yourself. As a 5-on-5 pairing, Alberts and Jurcina have ironically been vulnerable. Both are NHL plan-ons, but neither is making it uneventful for Toivonen right now. Prov's most reliable Dmen 5-on-5 have actually been Jay Leach and Jamie Filipowicz.

12 left the Dunk' after the Lowell clincher with a detectable limp.

Richards has to be getting tired, every time we have a penalty to kill he's bound to be on the ice taking a shift.
