1952 vs 2014 Winter Olympic Hockey

Interesting contrast, especially the dollars between the the 1952 and 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Hockey was in doubt at both games and there was a significant difference in the dollars involved. Yet travel expenses for the players were an issue:

... yes, Bunny Ahearn. Interesting character. Was a Travel Agent as well heading up the IIHF etc. Was reputedly the first to sell rink-board advertising. Decidedly commercial bent, hockey basically a vehicle for wider ranging personal business interests. A platform, vehicle. Little wonder he wanted to run the Championships a month earlier in Norway. Cost effective, shrewd, never mind that it might upstage the hockey portion of the Olympic Games. Not coming outta Bunnys' pocket.
