Chris Neil easily. He brings everything Cooke can and will beat the crap out of most of the players in the league

Cooke is close to an ideal 3rd line winger. Great PKer, fast skater, great playoff player, clutch, and one of the better forecheckers I've seen.

For me this is probably the easiest poll I have ever voted on here.

Neil any day, I don't like Cooke, I don't care how long it has been since he did something to get suspended, all his change of behavior tells me is that he chose to do all the things that got him in trouble in the first place.

Easily Neil. He'll do absolutely anything for his team, he'll go with anybody, he'll fall on goalies, take dives, agitate, chirp, facewash to no end, but the key is that he's always in control of it. He plays over the edge relative to other players, but still always in control of himself, and with purpose. Both players have little skill contribution at this point in their careers, but still chip in. Neil is just the more fearless and indomitable competitor to me, though.

Senators fan voting for my own guy.

That said, if I could go for either on a neutral team I'd probably go with Cooke, higher offensive ceiling and he does a lot more borderline/dangerous stuff and he drives other fanbases absolutely batty. One of those guys that you absolutely detest playing against but love on your team.

I really like Neil but some things I can do without, like his "pump up" gesture and the "I've been near onions" look at times when drawing penalties.

Neil. Both could fill a spot and be a very helpful 3rd liner though.

Easily Cooke. Ace penatly killer and better offensively.

Neil allows your team to player bigger than they are by makings sure nobody takes liberties. He punishes the opponents D by finishing every check, and can/does throw huge checks to change the momentum when needed. He'll take on all comers in a fight, but knows when it is not advantageous and wont get sucked into one when it doesn't benefit the team.

While Cooke does provide PK and better offence, I feel Neil's skill set more difficult to replace.

Neil for me AINEC. He's Lucic light with less offensive upside. He's got a great motor, and he takes on all comers. There's no substitute for that kind of courage in a locker room.

Plus, Cooke is a predator and a cheap-shot artist. I don't want that on my team.

There should be a "Neither" option. They're both gutless goofs.

Chris Neil.

I don't like the guy but unlike Cooke, it's for reasons that are a credit to Neil as a player.

I said Matt Cooke for these reasons. I personally don't like Chris Neil because I think he gets away with a lot, like a head hit on Grabovski during the 2011-2012 pre-season and he trys to act like a tough guy, who will try and hit players bigger then him and will never want to fight them when challenged. I even remember he once said Steve Downie would get his someday after he gave Dean McAmmond a concussion.

Now Cooke is no saint either for some of the stuff he has done, however at least he changed his game and will stand up for himself when needed. Plus Cooke can score when needed, has won a Stanley Cup and is good on the penalty kill.

Neil. Not a dirty player and when he does something that can even be considered borderline he owns up to it and will drop gloves with the best of the best.

Neil ainec.

Cooke will always be a vile piece of ****. Neil follows the code (one of the top fighters in the league as well), can chip in offensively and is a solid leader.

Cooke. He is a way better hockey player then most people think. Way better offensively then Neil, can play the PK.
