Calgary, Toronto or Tampa.

I would like him in Toronto and hope a new scenery and a new system can get him back on track.

I can see CGY or TOR really overpaying for him. I can see him getting close to the same contract he has now if he does get bought out.

If we trade him and he decides to retire before his contract is over, we're on the hook for the caphit for the remainder of his contract. It's a stupid rule that needs to be changed, trades are made by two teams willingly.

ZERO chance Toronto signs Richards. Why would they sign him after he spurned them and may want a sizable contract again? (Think 3.5-4.0 mil AAV).

My money is on Washington (to possibly replace Ribiero) or Chicago (roll the dice and try to fill their #2C void temporarily)

He should go back to Dallas, not sure if the damage done is too much though.

Players dont usually improve in Toronto, they actually die out here.

I don't want the leafs to show much interest, since we offered him a contract last time and he didn't bite.

IF he's bought out I think he ends up in Toronto. Last time he was a UFA we didn't have much of a supporting cast.

However now the core is starting to take shape and Toronto has a very young talented team. Now he'd have not just Kessel, around him but

Kessel, JVR Lupul Gardiner, Kadri, Reilly coming up.

If I'm Brad Richards Toronto is very attractive because weither it's Kessel, JVR or Kessel, Lupul you have a chance to play with top line talent, you have a chance to play on a team that was top 5 in goal scoring and is without question on the rise.

Lupul Richards Kessel,

JVR Kadri, Kuelmin

that would be our top 6

He will be bought out (hopefully this offseason).

Honestly, he has been terrible this year. Like, completely and utterly useless. He is slow, weak and is not creating any offense whatsoever.

Maybe it's lack of conditioning — I don't know. But, seeing as he will be bought out in 2014 anyway, I don't see any sense in keeping him and risking injury (in that scenario, he could not be bought out). He has shown no signs of improvement. In fact, he's gotten worse as the playoffs have gone along. He is the Rangers' fourth line center.

At this point, I think he should be signed to a 1 year, $3M contract. Play him in an Andy McDonald role, maybe move him to the wing and reduce his ice time to about 10 minutes and PP time (on a PP where he doesn't have to be the main weapon). He would probably be able to produce decently in that situation.

Of course, it could just be a down year for him. But the signs of decline are there.

As bad as we need center depth, I think I'd rather pass.

I don't think it would go over too well if you buy out a guy like Richards after signing him to that huge deal just 2 years ago, plus he wasn't terrible in year one , why not give him one more year ? Its a pretty drastic decision to make that involves a lot of money and reputation.

If trading Gomez, Burying Reddn, Buying out Drury etc can't damage NYR rep nothing can

I think best case scenario for him is to sign a cheap contract with Chicago to play with Sharp and Kane

The rule is fine it was implemented to punish GM's who willingly circumvented the previous CBA and reward those who did not.

I would sign him if I was TOR and he did get bought out.

I kind of get what your saying but neither of those players sign a 9 year deal. BTW you can also add trading Gaborik. I guess at the end of the day a player will not complain after taking deals like Richard and getting paid a huge chunk while not even being on the team anymore. I just have a bad feeling about the possible richards buyout for the rangers

Honestly, no damage was done. He only left due to the uncertainty of our ownership situation. He was in record as saying he'd love to stay (who knows if that's actually true) however our lack of an owner solidified his choice of leaving.

That being said, I think I'd be ok with him coming back if we don't get both of Gagner via trade (been rumored) and Filppula via UFA (connections to new GM Nill). Hopefully he could get Loui going again, as those two had fantastic chemistry.
