I just have a bad feeling about the possible richards buyout for the rangers
Gomez, was 7 years Drury was 8 Reddn, was 6 years not far from Richards 9 years

Chicago really doesn't have any cap space, they will probably re-sign some RFA's like Leddy and Kruger and re-sign Emery or another backup. It's looking like they are gonna lose Stalberg and Bickell unless they can work some magic.

I would think they will wait until next off-season if they do buy him out, they don't need to rush it this summer and can see if he will bounce back. Richards will still get four or five million from someone if he hits the market, quite frankly I would take him over Filppula still right now in this horrific slump or Bozak or some of the guys demanding that money. Still don't see him bought out this coming off-season.

Lupul Richards Kessel,

JVR Kadri, Ryder

Kuelmin McClement Komarov

I think Kuelmin is a little miscast as top 6 guy but I think Kuelmin McClement Komarov would be a HELL of a checking unit

With the way he has played why would anyone let him play with Sharp and Kane?
I just don't see that as a smart thing to do, it would make Kane and Sharp worse players.

Richards will not be bought out. His slump is a micro event - look at things in a macro sense. That said, he is on the down slope of his career and the production has already outpaced his contract. That said, an amnesty buyout seems rather aggressive in the off season. If he doesn't rebound next season, then a buyout seems likely (the Rangers will need to resign most of the core and supporting parts after next season).

If the Rangers did buy him out, he's unlikely to see the same contract length or value, especially as everyone can see he is slumping. Then again, a team could convince themselves that it was the system, not the player.

My vote would be Calgary - they seem both desperate and silly enough to do it.

That does look really good, maybe even use Grabovski as a winger to reduce his role.

I think he will be given one more chance to play. 13-14 season is do or die for him. If he falters, goodbye. Stepan and Brassard will fill the 1-2 role

I'd welcome him back to Dallas, especially for a good deal (<4M per). Wouldn't be ecstatic about it, but definitely happy.

Whitney - Benn - Chiasson
Ritchie/Fraser/Smith - Richards - Eriksson

That's a solid top 6.

I just have to ask, does everyone realize he has been reduced to a 4th liner?

Seriously. Not sure if people have watched him this year. Im not even sure why hes being dressed. He brings zero to the table these days. Good luck with these 4 year contracts being thrown around here. He is image that pops up when you google toast

Drury was 5 years not 8. Gomez was traded to another team being given another chance, he also had a NTC, so he had a say. Redden was a bad deal from the start and everyone saw that coming in all honesty.

None of the situations were idea I understand your point, but Richards signed a cap circumvented contract to play for the Rangers for the rest of his career. He played good last year, and now if they give up on him instead of calling it a bad season, it will show they have no sense of commitment. Also the other three cases the players were overpaid, but I can definetly could have seen other teams offering Richards a similar contract to that, and it coming down to him wanting to be on the Rangers.

I'd call it attractive to the right kind of players. If you don't perform up to the money we're paying you, we won't hesitate to get rid of you.

The message isn't "Don't sign with the Rangers". The message is "don't come here expecting your retirement to begin at 29"

Yes but the contract was for 9 years. He played good one year. He should at least be given until next year

No, he did not. That "good year" was an 11 point drop from the prior year - in 10 MORE games, no less. His PPG dropped .27 from 1.07 (approx) to .80

This season? Down to .74 - and as someone who watched a TON of Rangers hockey, I'm still not even sure how in all hell he got to 34 points.

Sorry, but you're talking about a .33 point per game drop in 3 years. The guy is in decline - and rapidly. This isn't what we paid for.

For what it's worth, I think the Rangers hold onto him next year, but for purely fiscal reasons.

I don't know how many of you watched Richards this year. He is almost as slow as Ryane Clowe. Almost. Kreider and Asham have looked better than him, on the 4th line, no less.

Why would Richards play for Calgary i dont think so, And Richards already said that he is'nt interested in playing in Toronto and Tampa does'nt have the cap space for Richards but i could see him going back home to Tampa if they could clear enough cap it would be sweet.

Sorry why would Richards come back to Dallas when he wanted out of there in the first place. He will come back home to Tampa before going back to Dallas.

He wanted out because of the uncertainty of the ownership in Dallas at the time, not because he hated the team. His best seasons were in Dallas.
