Our fourth line is a regular season healthy scratch, a pathetic, washed up center, and, actually, a very solid fourth liner in Asham.

It sucks.

This was a horrible effort tonight outside of Lundqvist. After that first period I was smelling the loss already.

I'm so tired of the collapsing and hang back style it's maddening. We're better than what we're showing and it appears most are not playing with heart. Those that do, aren't doing it every night. I still stick to my guns that if adjustments can be made on how to play - we're right there with Boston.

Panger nailed it on the head tonight with his analysis.

I think we have a roster that would excel under quicker transition and more pressure on the rush. That's on Torts, whatever happened to you and your safe is death moto?

I can't help but think, and this goes back to the Washington series - it seems they're tuning Torts out most of the time.
Regarding Del Zotto, I often wonder if there are coaches out there who would look at him and say "I know exactly how to get him shooting better" or "I think I can get him over the hump".

He may get over that hump right where he is with the Rangers. I don't know, but I wish he was playing like he did some time ago, when he seemed to just fly, almost always in the right way at the right time (but still wasn't very good at hitting the net, LOL).

The Rangers have a surplus of defenseman. They can afford to move one of them out to improve the offense.
i really don't think our D is as deep as you might think. girardi looks like crap this season. i dont understand the stralman love, hes okay, not overly great. eminger stinks. and i think the only player that we can add to the lineup next year would be Mcilrath. not sure who you're willing to trade away but i think we are far from having a surplus of defensemen

Tortorella's demoralizing remarks towards our players especially the kids coupled with their on ice performance is more than enough reason to believe the team-coach relationship has soured

I would really take a hard run at a scoring winger in exchange for one of our defenseman.

I wouldnt buy out richards yet...but if you could buy him out and add another piece, i wouldnt be opposed to it.

crappy free agent class though.

Nah. We blew a 3 goal lead to the Sens iirc last year and the year before that we blew a 3 goal lead to the caps in the playoffs.

That was a shootout loss.

The latter is correct. It's been 2 years and a month, roughly.

Criticize his tactics all you want, but this is just baseless. Let's see the young players who have blossomed under Torts in the last four seasons...

Callahan
Dubinsky
Girardi
Staal
Stepan
Hagelin
McDonagh
MDZ (he's had his ups and downs, but time and time again he has said that Torts has been tremendous in his development)
Stralman (not extremely young, but has blossomed)
Boyle (laugh all you want, he turned into an NHL player under Torts)
Anisimov to an extent
Prust (same as Stralman)

He has been just fine with young players. Do I at times disagree with how he handles some players? (i.e. Kreider) Yes. But based on his track record, I'm just going to say that I think he knows what he's doing a lot better than any of us do...and probably a lot better than most coaches.

Hopefully some good players with ****** contracts are bought out (Hossa/Lecav) and we can pounce on them for cheap.

Oh, I know. I was talking about Boston's. Guys were pinning our best players, getting nice scoring chances, and I do believe they scored the 1st goal.

You wouldn't be quoting Bashiok now would you? Also how bout the forwards score a god forsaken goal? This team blows balls. Absolutely sucks. Disgusting coaching, disgusting offense, abomination of a power play makes me want to puke. One of the biggest embarrassment PP's ever presided over by that glorified motivator. All consistent issues.

Richards abhorrent play has screwed up so much with the lines its not even funny.
You lost me at Kreider and Boyle. Kreider's career play? What career? Boyle? The guy has been a mediocre 3rd liner at best his entire career other than one fluke year. You'd rather have Boyle than Callahan? Hell Kreider doesn't even have a career and you'd rather have him based on career play than Callahan? Callahan plays like a 3rd liner in the playoffs, but Boyle and Kreider (right now for Kreider) and not better options by a long shot.

Brad Richards aside, and even then I'd give one free pass to him, I would like to see this roster play under a coach with a much more attack mentality.

We'd have several games this playoffs put away in our favor if we had some sort of a plan on the powerplay. Lundqvist's stats show this.

We have a goalie that on most nights - he'll have your back if you want to play fire-wagon hockey and just trade chances. Good enough d-core to pick up the leftovers and get it out of harms way.

I think the young guys are for the most part playing scared, knowing if they make a mistake their minutes will be cut in half instantly if not worse.

gabby = worth it and we got rid of him in time for good value
richards = one year too many, but who knew? dump him

They were responsible for both goals.

Kreiders play in the last playoffs, like we all were penciling him at the beginningof the year.

In 2004 the Boston Red Sox rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat the New York Yankees in 7 games. It's time to return the favor to Boston.

This puck support system is for the birds.
Easy way to beat it is dangle the puck, draw them like bees and pass the puck to the opposite side where they ain't, works like a charm. And if they get puck back, they are too tired chasing the puck in their own end to generate any sustained offense.

The team we watched tonight BLOWS

Little to no passion.... little to no sustained urgency... Little to no sustained execution of anything resembling a game plan.

They look slow, soft and more like they are playing in October then in May. Timing is off, no one wants to get into the dirty spots, get an ugly goal.

Jesus how many times did Steps just miss the net? Guy has lived hockey his whole life and its the playoffs at Mother****ing Madison Square Garden and he can't put the puck on net?

Hate to say it but Pierre was right, they look like they just started playing hockey last week.

I am just a frustrated fan that loves this team, but that's what I see. I can't explain it? I wish someone would explain it to me?

I know it's just a game, but I want to break stuff
