Apart from that brutal turnover Jones shows some good defensive plays. He also nicely connected to attack. I think that he may plays too many games this season and feel tired. 61 games in WHL regular season, 21 in playoffs, games during WJC. MacK has some time off after injury.

This game start to looks like manslaughter right now. Halifax is on different level.

Friedman never said Jones, just said the Avs were interested in moving up to the 1st overall pick.

Seth Jones might be having his worst game of the tourny. Still tons of time to change that. Mackinnon on the other hand has looked like he has all season.

That shot was just a beauty. Any doubts he'd have the best shot on the team next year if we drafted him? Imagine him with Staz, if we threw him on the wing I think he could step in and pot alot of goals right from the get go. Still a kid too, won't be 19 until his 2nd season in the NHL

maybe this is good for us then, if we actually want jones, than we can pretend we want Mack due to his domination of this mem cup run.

That way Florida or Tampa can trade us their pick + for the 1st overall to ensure they get their guy (mac and drouin), leaving Jones to us all along.

Id also like to throw a little love for Drouin. His vision is unreal. He reminds me a lot of Patty Kane.

Remember when people actually knew what the avs were going to do? Me neither.

I thought Drouin had the best period of the big 3. Man his vision is off the charts and he has the skill to actually put the puck wherever he wants.

It sucks not being able to watch this tourney. Don't have Sportsnet and internet is too slow for streaming. Have to rely on you scrubs...

Really want MacKinnon, he has a history of really turning it up in the clutch.

Junior hockey can quickly change, but Portland looked terrible. No puck support and they got outworked.

The Frk-MacKinnon-Drouin line continues to play well.

LOL at the play-by-play guy saying Halifax were 'squeezing their sticks' after a couple a minutes. A dominating performance, Portland can barely cross the red line.

You were right. I remembered it wrong.

11. How badly did the Avalanche want the No. 1 pick? There were already rumours they were going to try and trade up if they didn't get it. All signs point to Seth Jones, especially after a season in which Colorado defencemen combined for one goal every 12 games.

Drouin has amazing vision and elite hockey sense in the offensive zone. He's going to be a special player. It wouldn't surprise me if he consistently puts up more points than MacKinnon if he's playing with someone like Stamkos. Mac will always be the more dominant player though. Jones is either making great plays or terrible ones, no middle ground.

Leafs fan here in peace. Man, you guys are really lucky to have a chance to draft Mackinnon. In fact you're one of the few teams with the assets to get both Mac and Drouin if you wanted to. Not sure which way your fans are leaning (likely towards Jones I imagine), but man Mackinnon and Drouin are just so dynamic out there and play such complete games. Good luck with whoever you guys pick. You'll be fun to watch.

Last defensive play from Seth's side was really good. Gosh, I don't know, I'm not scout I know we need to improve our defense, but in this tournament (I watch them only at WJC and here) MacK is flying and "screams" AVS take me, you need player like me! McGinn-Stastny-MacKinnon line could be phenomenal and Staz trade value can go up with player like MacK on his wing.

I have never been a good scout. I dont trust myself. I can judge who is the best right now... But I have never had any idea of who is gonna become the best player in a few years. I just dont have that talent. I dont know what I want for this draft...

Carruth's head is starting to go you can just tell with his body language after whistles. Jones has been so-so with some good plays and some bad ones. I still like his game though and this period doesnt change my opinion. MacKinnon has been good, about what I expect from him. His ability to fight for the puck in the dirty areas impresses me as much as his power skating. This kid is going to be a baller.

However for me the best player this game has been Drouin, his vision has been incredible he's been finding his teammates with regularity and putting them in dangerous positions. Also I really dont like the Poulliot-Rutkowski pairing, they just dont seem like smart defenders. I thought the same in the first game and they're showing it again.

Flames fan who comes in peace. You guys should 100% draft Mackinnon. Jones looks solid but Mackinnon looks to be a superstar forward that everyone will pay money to watch. He'd be the perfect guy to build around and to start bringing back the glory days to the Avs.

Same. That cross slot pass for goal number three was sick.

I don't think it will happen. I'm literally 50/50 on who I want and I'll be happy with either but MacKinnon is and will always be the sexier pick.

It was nice but Mackinnon made the whole play happen. Made a nice pass to Drouin when he was being 2-on-1'd in the corner.

I don't care either way...but man some people are gonna be real upset if Sakic calls out Seth Jones on the 30th.
