I don't agree with the Stamkos comparisons but the way he goes after goals and his shot do seem Stamkos like. Puts himself in good position to shoot like Stammer as well.

The Avs are going to have trouble passing on MacKinnon he's their type of player if I've ever seen one.

Apart from Mack skill, Rutkowski made it happens with his sloppy defensive play. He is 4 years older than MacK and was beaten like a rented mule.

Why don't they have Jones against Mackinnon?

I'm glad Sherman's and co is making this decision. I don't even know what I want. I mean, if we pick jones, I'll be disapointed we don't have Mackinnon. But if we pick mackinnon, I'll be sad we don't have jones... -_-

Yup. As Pracey would say, he has the compete, he battles hard, and he has the skill.

That's the difference for Mackinnon and Drouin to me. Mackinnon once again used an NHL type move on Jones, that's a move that's going to work in the NHL. Drouin has insane hands and his vision is way better than Mac's but I'm not 100% convinced that all his slick moves will translate as much as Mackinnons will.

Yea, MacKinnon definitely seems like your prototypical Avs player.

MacKinnon had a bad Junior tournament and unless a huge change Jones had an ordinary Mémorial Cup tournament... If one tournement was enough for MacKinnon to lose a spot ...who's first now ?
Bob McKenzie's article on the situation stated that the scouts who changed from MacKinnon to Jones had said that it (the WJC's) had nothing to do it with it, rather it was his play in the WHL that had them change their opinions.

So I highly doubt that the Memorial Cup will sway the Avs' opinion on whoever they had intended on drafting.

Agreed. Jones has none of that so it's really an easy decision for Pracey.

Can't forget Mackinnon had the number 1 spot for how long? I know when he was like 15 years old alot of scouts had him as the next big thing and a lottery pick. Jones took it afterwards.

Memorial cup won't change much, doubt Avs had there minds made up anyways. In a draft like this you go over everything, even with guys like Drouin and Barkov etc. Seeing how much Mackinnon is stepping up right now can only help tho. He has what, like 8 points against Portland? ****** the memorial cup right now. He's showing ALOT in this tourny.

Sick pass by Drouin. I can't recall seeing a play maker like that in the draft in a long time.

Drouin passed that puck like a quarterback. MacKinnon wasn't even looking behind him, the puck just landed directly in front of him lol
