He'll find his game somewhere else in a different system.

I think he can be an asset on the PP with his shot off the point.

I won't mind taking a chance on him in Toronto. We were interested and thankfully dodged a bullet as we had offered lesser term but more money.

I'll take him on a 1-2 year deal at about half of what he makes right now.

Yeah. I was thinking 2-3 years and 3-4 mil per and you might get your money's worth out of him.

That will be true with many of the buyouts....shorten the cntract to 3 yrs with the price cut in half and many teams will offer something.

Many of these had to do with the contract, not the player.

I agree, problem is.....he didn't come here before, and with so many teams who'd be willing to offer this and more....i'm not sure he'd sign here now.

Flyers call dibs on B-Rad at 1 year 5 million.

We get a center who is younger, better than briere, and really pissed off at the rangers for a year before we lock up G, Schenn, and Coots.

Side Note: Richards will be forced to wear #18 so that jerseys can come back into style

If he is bought out and can be had for less than 4 million, I surely hope the Wild are in on it.

We've got center openings, for sure.

Yeah....no.

He wasn't an asset from the Point on the PP for the Rangers.

His decision making and actual skill has gone on a permanant vacation.

PO'd at the Rangers? Why, they didn't make he suck. He only has to look in the mirror for that.

Come back and play with old friends Vinny and Marty, while making a new friend in Stamkos?

Essentially, it will be 4 years. He will retire when the money hits 1mil and then we will pay the penalty when the cap will have risen for 4 years. Liles contract is 3 more years and he has no fit here. I truly believe that his (Richards) struggles are directly related to Tort's system.

For that kind of money I would'nt be surprised if he does'nt go back to Tampa Bay that would be sweet at one time before he signed his long term contract with the Rangers. He did say that he would'nt have minded finishing his career where it all began in Tampa Bay, And he and Vinny LeCavalier have been friends since they were both 14 years old. I think that Yzerman will buyout both Malone and Brewer and maybe Ohlund will have to take an forced retirement That by itself would clear close to $10 million in cap.

I would'nt be surprised if he does'nt come back home to Tampa Bay if and when he's bought out he wanted to come home the last time but Yzerman had to resign Stamkos and Tampa did'nt have enough money for Richards also. I would be surprised if Yzerman does'nt buyout Malone and maybe Brewer also and with Ohlund on LTIR that would clear about $10 million in cap room.

He still can bounce back and be a productive #2c, he puts up points even when hes at his worst. Put him in a different system and he'll thrive. If a team signs him for 4m, you got your self a nice deal.

I think the perfect situation is Richards in Chicago between Sharp/Hossa

Come to Calgary Brad!
We will likely overpay and expectations are non-existent
Plus due to our lack of center depth, even if you suck, you will likely still be in our top 9, possibly even our top 6

Agreed. Would love to get Richards cheap for 2C. As long as he doesn't think a team like Calgary is closer to the Cup or a team like Nashville is more of an offensive force, then it does make a lot of sense.

***FWIW, in 2008, Richards wouldn't accept a trade to Chicago because he thought Dallas was much closer to winning a Cup.

Right... I'm sure he is gonna be pissed getting paid what, $24M over the next 14 years, WHILE getting a chance to be a free agent once again.

I'd like the Ducks give him a shot as #2C for a deal around $3M per a few years.

Turco/Zubov falling the **** off didn't help matters.

That Stars team was fun tho.
