If the Rangers buy out Richards then we buy out Grabo and give most of his money to Richards . #1 center slot is filled. one more top 6 winger like Horton or Ryder and we'd be set in the top 6.

Lupul Richards Kessel

JVR Kadri Horton/Ryder

Kuelmin McClement Komarov

PP

Lupul Richards Kessel

Phaneuf Gardiner

PP 2

JVR Kadri Horton /Ryder

Franson Liles

that would be fun to watch

He can go to the Whale and take reddens spot. If this guy is showing his best he is a total dud.
What team would trade a first for him? Or any substantial asset? You can't look at the back of his trading card and say this guy is great. He is a big giant headed poop on the ice. If some team would take on that contract IMO all you will get is a mid prospect and/or a mid pick. The dreamers will dream. The rangers have gotten the prize the last 3 seasons, Gaborik, Richards, Nash ,. Maybe
The system ain't so great. I thought that Richards reuniting with the coach that won the cup
With him was exactly what was going to make this guy have an amazing time with the rangers.
I don't think redden sold his house yet . There's always next year

So...

Yes, yes we can afford a Brad Richards playing center in Dallas in front of Eakin, Fiddler, and whoever.
So you hate Jamie Benn, especially after the season he just had, but would welcome back Brad with open arms? Do you even like the Stars or any of the players?

For the record, I would take Brad and let him center Loui again, as that combo seemed to work really well.

You do realize that you cannot bury contracts in the minors anymore, right?

You can, just have to carry most of the cap hit anyway.

It's not about the contract but thank you. If the guy is scratched from the most important
Game of the season, he has no spot on my team

You can trade salary now yes? Dallas offers to take him, full cap hit, if New York takes the equivalent of the buyout money in salary. Offer a conditional 7th rounder in return.

That's great except Richards isn't a #1 center anymore.

Not going to happen. Rangers don't want to get stuck with the cap penalty if/when he retires early.

He's going to be bought out. Only question is whether that happens this offseason or next offseason.

Could be a "cheap" way for the Blues to upgrade at center, but then again, Richards would probably work better in an offense-first system.

They wouldn't get stuck with the cap hit if he get's traded. Though I just remembered compliance buyouts negate cap hit so I guess there's not much incentive unless Dallas offers to take more salary than the Rangers would pay out in a buyout.

FF didn't say anything about hating Benn? He's stating a fact. Benn is terrible on the dot, and a makeshift center that needs back on wing.

As for the last part, get a grip. He knows them well. Way to take everything out of context.

I see Torts being fired rather then Richards being bought out. Since they have another year to use the compliance buyout, why not see if he can regain his form under a new coach first.

Bingo. Put him in an offensive system and i think he recaptures his game.

The Tampa Torts and the Rangers Torts are like total opposites. How does a coach with the likes of Nash...Gaborik and Richards employ a defense first...dump and chase "first priority is blocking shots!!!" kind of system??

Build around your strengths. Best player on that team is Lundqvist.

Richards is done. The Leafs shouldn't want him. Unless there is an non-disclosed injury, his skating has dropped off a lot. He is behind the play, and can't get to the areas needed to be a top player anymore. Plus, he's not physcial enough to play a checking role. Currently, Grabovski is the better player.

I'd love him in Tampa, but we are already icing a bunch of marshmallows.
