Best powerplay this upcoming season?

Who do you think will have the best powerplay this season? Make a case for your team. Ottawa's PP unit looks strong with a potential lineup
of Havlat-Spezza-Hossa with Alfredsson and Redden quarterbacking the PP.

Not to sound biased, but Colorado has the AMP line and the Sakic/selaane/Kariya line. Both would be a top PP unit on any team.

Colorado or Ottawa. Detroit should drop with the loss of Fedorov and Larionov. Question - Did Whitney play the point last year on the PP?

St.Louis has, in my mind, the best power play in the league. Demitra, Weight, Tkachuk, Pronger & MacInnis? Not even Colorado or Detroit can match that.

The Wings will be up there again. As will Colorado.

How about my favorite club, Vancouver? With Naslund, Bertuzzi, & Jovo, they should have perhaps the best first unit in the league, along with hopefully the Sedin's popping in more PP points next year!

Pittsburgh for the first few months of the season...

Then, when Lemieux gets injured, St. Louis.

I agree with the Pens, but if Mario goes down my vote is for the Avalanche.

After Kovalev left, Pittsburgh couldn't even get the puck into the zone. It'll take all Lemieux has to get them into the top 20.

Dallas has a pretty strong powerplay. Modano-Arnott-Guerin Zubov-Numminen. 2nd PP Lehtinen-Young-Turgeon Boucher-Matvichuk.

Zubrus - Lang - Jagr
Bondra - Gonchar

Looks very strong although they couldn't click last year. If they start clicking it could be top 3. Bondra lead the league in PP goals for a few years and was underutilized on last years PP by Cassidy(rookie coach what do you expect?). Plus the best offensive dman in the league alongside him and even though he's been off Jagr's still one of if not the best in the league when he wants to be. Lang's solid and Zubrus is ready for a breakout year(yes again for the 5th straight season I know but he's dominating in the preseason so far..maybe finally...)

as a single unit st. loo has some killer combos. but a great powerplay depends on depth, with an awesome second unit.

colorado has the tools to dominate on the PP this season, with two incredible forward units, as well as blake and morris plus an improving skoula. and adam foote isn't THAT bad.

but coaching can be instrumental in special teams.

something tells me dallas and ottawa are going to be at the top in powerplays this year, ottawa's players are all improving and their depth at forward is something else.

dallas added teppo numminen, who is a pretty decent PP QB. together with zubov and excellent forward depth, four penalties in one game against dallas could be potentially fatal. dave tippett had los angeles two seasons ago 1st and second in PK and PP, if memory serves.

Yes he did.

Ottawa doesn't have Havlat, their PP won't be as good as last year.

Colorado has the number one PP going into this year, unless something odd happens.

St. Louis should have a good PP with Pronger coming back.

Dallas will as well with Zubov, Modano and a healthy Guerin.

Nas and Bert make anyones PP great.

Detroit always has a good PP, Whitney and Schneider take the point. Fedorov's loss is no big deal.

How can you say that Colorado wouldn't be able to match that??

I think Ottawa would as well.

Buffalo with Delmore on the point will have a good powerplay.

Colorado gets the nudge over Ottawa because of Blake hammering away from the point. Morris can put it in the net too.

I don't think Pittsburgh has a prayer of breaking the top 10 unless one of the young guys steps up in a huge way. Not even a PP can be one-dimensional if it's to be good.

I say Colorado. But point taken about the coaching..it may have some effect, but with those skilled guys, probably not a lot.

Toronto's PP won't be bad either, esp. with the addition of Nieuwendyk and Nolan for the full season. Both those guys aren't afraid to go to the net which should help. Besides Roberts, a lot of Leafs haven't done that. We've got some youngsters on the blueline who can potentially QB the 2nd unit as well - Pilar, Hedin, Kondratiev, Jackman come to mind.

You guys have to be kidding me.

Kariya - Forsberg - Selanne/Hejduk
Sakic - Blake/Morris

No team can touch that... Mizral's bias against the Avs is showing again.

Mike Modano - Jason Arnott - Bill Guerin

Sergei Zubov - Teppo Numminen

It has both ingredients to create a succesful powerplay, playmakers (Modano (6'3), Zubov and Numminen) and size (powerforwards) in Arnott (6'4) and Guerin (6'3)..

On paper, no one can touch the Avs though, but as in most effective, I'd say the one above comes damn close.

Yeah, Tippet had his team in the top 5 in both categories again during his first full season with the Stars.

sadly, i bet colorado's PP ends up blowing ass.. the avs have had a retarded PP for years now.. and it's been up and down..

it should be 30 percent every year... it was dynamite with foppa/claude/kamensky/ozo... good unit that was..

this year's PP i think will just goof it up too much, dink around.. and miss chances
