What about Viktor Stalberg? 27 year old LWer who can skate and has decent hands and shot. Probably wouldn't be too expensive either. And he's a Swede - from Gothenburg!

I think the Sens need to go big on the UFA market. Anybody else will just displace a prospect of equal or slightly lesser value from the roster.

I dont see a "big" UFA, nobody wows me at all. I would wait until next year or the deadline and hope someone will come available thats actually a #1 winger..

Can we stop with depth players/fring top 6ers?? We need TOP LINE TALENT. Or really talented top 6 forwards like Horton/Filppula and possibly even Ryder.

Also, trade seems like best option as well. There was be a couple other big names that will float from the RFA class like usual.

Stewart
Wheeler

I know we need Wingers but I could see Joe Thornton wanting to move somewhere if they cant continue on in their series with LA.

Chris Stewart isnt amazing but he would be something Murray might look into due to our lack of Poward Forwards.

The list of top free agents next summer are really good. Most free agents this summer will be top 6 fillers or checking line fillers. As mentioned, a trade could happen with so many prospects in our system but we must make sure it's for the right player(obviously).

We were in the running for Nash last summer, I wonder if Murray feels good or bad for not trading for him now(depends on what we offered). We're still looking for a top player like him.

Nash had a rough playoffs this round but maybe with our team he would perform better?

Forget about Thornton, if there is ANY way possible Jamie Benn is available you make a move for him, for some reason Stars fans throwing his name out there.

Wait, what? Why would you ever want to trade away Jamie Benn? Even if you were going to rebuild, the dude is only 23 years old. That doesn't make any sense!

So there are rumors that BOTH Eriksson AND Benn are available? What is going on in Dallas?

Ryane Clowe would be sweet on this team. He's unrestricted.

Other interesting UFA:s - Mike Ribeiro, Ron Hainsey, Nik Antropov (has some size to him), Derek Roy, Nathan Horton, Rob Scuderi, Vallteri Fillpula (would be awesome), Doug Murray (tank at the back end), Scott Gomes (could potentially be a low risk, high reward deal).

He isn't. I started a fantasy proposal on the Trades/Rumours/FA Talk part of these boards where we give up significant pieces for a power forward, and someone tossed out his name. That doesn't even qualify as a rumour.

Just imagine though. Trade discussions for power forwards that will make an impact on our team will always start with Silf or Zibby (often plus plus on our end). To give up players like this it would take a lot and it would have to be the absolute perfect player for our team, and Benn would be amazing. It will never happen because Dallas is building around him right now, but just imagine how awesome we would be with that type of piece added to our lineup.

Don't most free agent years look good a year away though until teams starting slowly re-signing their plays throughout the year? You are right though, next year currently looks really good.

San Jose has a lot of talent to re-sign.

Thornton
Marleau
Boyle
Pavelski
Couture (RFA)

Also Flyers fans seem to be tossing around Couturier a lot. They need D. Interested?

I'd be all over Douglas Murray. He is exactly what we need on the back end.

As far as UFA's go, at forward I'd be going for either Horton or Clarkson, if we have to replace Gonchar, Streit and Ian White are really the only D available who play the right side, I'd probably ok with either on a short term deal.

I wonder if Iginla is a possibility. Of course Ottawa wsan't on his trade list but there won't be that many teams with the available cap space to offer him a contract. He would be perfect in many ways.

I'm guessing that Iginla has had enough of small Canadian cities.

Send a message via AIM to Synthetek
Simon Gagne could be an option and most likely at a good price, just have to wrap him in bubble wrap.

I'm not saying Iginla-to-Ottawa is plausable or not, but:

1) Calgary ≠ the rest of Canada, and
2) The flames Organization ≠ other Canadian clubs

Maybe. The Sens do have some advantages though; they will be able to offer as much or more contract than any team this summer. The Sens have shown they are a young, upcoming team, not a bottom feeder.

We'll see what he wants. How many large American cities that have a realistic shot at winning will be able to offer him a contract?

Somehow he'll end up on the Rangers.
