If Clarke MacArthur is signed to a reasonable amount, which he likely will, and is paired with a good second line center, he'll put up some nice numbers IMO. When he, Grabovski and Kulemin gelled amazingly well together a few years back he looked great. Sign him for under $2 mil/season and you may receive a lot of band for your buck.
C Mac made 3.25 with us he is NOT going to be signed for under 2
I think Khudobin gets signed by another team. Boston is going to have to give Rask a nice big payday this off-season (probably 5-5.5M per for 6-8 years), and I think Khudobin will get offered a contract elsewhere (UFA) that Boston can't match because of their tight cap.
I think Boston is better off (and will) signing a 2-3 year, veteran, stop-gap for cheap until Subban is ready to make the jump.
I bet Khudobin lands a 1-2M contract somewhere else.
I knew there was a name escaping me that's my super-duper top secret UFA steal and it came to me today: Rostislav Olesz. This all hinges on Chicago buying him out which I think is extremely likely. We all know Olesz: big-time prospect who some, in fact, believed was to form a Big 3 for 2004's NHL draft. He got walloped by Phaneuf in the WJHCs, suffered a concussion and was never the same. His draft stock fell and he was chosen at 7th overall. He had a couple good seasons with Florida and signed a 6 year extension with a $3.1 cap hit and then the injuries set in. He played 37 games the first year of his deal, then a relatively healthy one, and then a season of 44 games before Florida offloaded his salary in the Brian Campbell deal. He last just 6 games with the Blackhawks before being sent to the minors. He was hurt again this year, got healthy and was waived by Chicago and sent to the AHL.
BUT, his time with Rockford in the AHL this year was extremely productive. He put up 7 goals and 19 points in just 14 games with Rockford. He's still just 27 years old. If he gets bought out, I think someone offers him a cheap 1-way deal and he opens a bunch of eyes next, provided he stays healthy.
Or else, you know, he just goes overseas because no one wants to offer him a 1-way deal.
