Whomever takes Luongo will want to send some cap back.

Tanev will sign for 2.5-3 mil or be offer sheeted.

Raymond is definitely leaving if all you are offering is 2 mil.

Because Booth has produced at a 23G, 45PTS pace in a Vancouver jersey as recently as the year before last while providing great physicality?

I'd rather trade Burrows for a 1st + prospect than lose Booth for nothing.

Tanev is going to get Subban money despite the cap dropping?

You have to see your bias here right?

Dump Ballard + Booth at least

I'd move Schneider...you can get a great return for him...better than Luo and Luo was better than Scneider

It's not even a matter of want....name a team that absolutely NEEDS a starter AND willing to add 5.33 in cap....i can think of maybe 1....Calgary.

So what you are saying is he is a more expensive version of Clarke MacCarthur?

There was a suggestion that the Canucks may use one of their compliance buy-outs in a Luongo trade, taking back a poor contract from a "poor" team, in order to facilitate a trade. They would then look at either buying out Ballard/Booth and potentially move the other for nothing or pick up some cap hit to make such a player more attractive in a trade. Ballard at say, $2-2.5M is a lot more attractive and still saves the Canucks about $2M off their cap.

Devils, Jets, Islanders. Flyers if they amnesty Bryz.

We'll be able to trade him for something, even if it isn't that shiny.

Subban is the exception to the rule. People were shocked at how low his salary was, and there are plenty of other RFAs who've signed for far more. The lockout played a large part in that, in that it made teams less hesitant to put down offer sheets.

An offer sheet of up to 3 mil is only going to cost a 2nd round pick. That's a no brainer for a player like Tanev.

Booth has had 1 season over 40 pts. He's lousy bang for the buck at $4m.

Seriously? You really think Wang, burned on the Yashin+ DiPietro longterm deals, is a landing spot for Luongo?

Calgary won't want Luongo.

Joey MacDonald is already signed to an NHL contract for next year.

Berra is signed and will be in the NHL or AHL.

Ramo will possibly be signed and be in the NHL.

Brossoit and Ortio will be in the AHL.

So they're already full up on goalies - and given that they're in a rebuild the last thing they want is a high-priced goaltender.

The only way the Flames would give the Canucks a break and take Luongo is if the Canucks threw in assets which won't happen.

Oh, that's right. I forgot. Toronto no longer needs a starter. Don't forget the Leafs had that series won, until Reimer's collapse. Can you say 'Dan Cloutier'? Dave Nonis lived through Cloutier. Nonis realized he needs to upgrade at goalie, if his team is going to advance.

If the Canucks take on DiPietro's buyout, why not?

Could you see the Canucks trading Luongo to Philly for Coutourier or Simmonds and Bryzgalov? Then the Canucks are the ones who absord Bryzgalov's salary in a buy-out?

It wasn't James Reimer who collapsed, and I'm not sure Nonis can do much better than .920+ in any goalie he acquires including the "I don't collapse except all the time" Luongo.

By the way the last goalie who did what Reimer did in a game 7 was Tukka Rask

Hold back a mil each for Ballard and Booth.

Ballard at 3.20 cap hit and Booth at 3.25 cap hit are a lot more attractive options for some teams. Both contracts end after the 2014/15 season. See if you can get any mid round picks for em or a young roster player. Maybe Ballard (with a mil retained) to Edmonton for MPS type deal.

2 mil in dead space for those two til 14/15 is a lot better than having to keep them on the books til then. You could always compliance buy out both of em otherwise and get the full 8.45 in cap space back.

We still stuck in that fantasy of Wang can't afford a $1.5m per buyout, so he'll trade several top prospects to be rid of DiPietro?

Luongo is just what Toronto needs in order to beat Boston

Who says it would require several top prospects? I'd do it for one.

You think these teams will take 9 years of 5.33 per (cap) without sending anything back?

Luongo is going to get amnestied. Nobody is going to take his contract, especially if they have the possibility of signing him after he gets amnestied.
