News about the Nashville Zoo expansion.

Real prize of this expansion is AFRICA. Will be best Africa exhibit ~ about 44 acres (size of most zoos in TN).

Africa phase of expansion will more than double the number of animals we have on exhibit.

Expect a new African village and exhibits for gorillas, lions, hippos, rhinos, etc. (ed: how awesome!)

We expect after all improvements, attendance of 1.2 million/year. Amazing for tourism. "World class zoo for world class city."

Irony, Preds get a Penguin just as the Nashville Zoo does...

So any petitions to have the first penguin named Neal?

Why would we want to name a penguin after a Pred?

Neal is not a Penguin any more and we shouldnt think of him as one

I don't usually go downtown on Saturday afternoons in the summer so while I was there after the scrimmage I just people watched. I couldn't believe how many people were down there! The streets were packed and restaurants were full. I saw at least 4 pedal taverns going around. I'm sure there were a lot of locals down there as well. But it's just hard to imagine that all those people chose to come here, to Nashville, for the weekend or to party. I guess we're still the "It City".

And you have to figure in the urban core revival here in Nashville. This is not the same city it was 5, 10, 15 years ago.

Happy Birthday Triggrman, We need to have a board meet up sometime in the following year, doesn't necessarily have to be at the Bridgestone.

that got me thinking… a lot of us from the old np board would meet at games at the glass for warmups.

what I'm wondering is if I don't already know some of you but you have a different screen name over here.

maybe for reference sake, if you used to post over there, mention your old screen name here in this thread...

So how do you like Smyrna? I love it here! I've been here a little over a year. Everything is so convenient! Since I am retired, I don't have the everyday drive to work or anything. I dug out my receipts from Valvoline Oil CHange and between 3/13 and 5/14 I drove 3009 miles. (I'm not kidding!). A tank of gas will last me a month. I hope you like it just as much.

Tennessean Re-Org.

Quote:
Almost everyone will have to reapply for new jobs. There will be fewer managers, more reporters and columnists and a larger investigative team. But ultimately, the newsroom will shrink by 15 percent. Currently, the headcount is at 89. There are 76 positions on the new org chart.
Could this mean we finally rid ourselves of Cooper?
