Looks silly to me. I'd stick with the red post white net for sure.

Why don't they just make the ice blue, and the blue lines orange...

It looks like plastic.

Let's all complain about ridiculous things like ice color, net color and post color. We are REAL hockey fans!

So I'm the only one that found the article to be pretty interesting?

No wait, I forgot. At HFBoards, even the suggestion of change in any way, shape, or form is to be ridiculed and spat upon. You guys are right, it looks odd. Screw it.

What good does an article like this do right now? There isnt a CBA, so why worry about tweaking things like colors right now?

Most people are pissed off at this because like myself they are praying that when NHL hockey returns it hopefully resembles what we once loved.

Now's the time to consider everything... they can multi-task and evaluate new ideas in equipment while trying to get a CBA, can't they? It's not the worst idea I've ever heard.. in fact, it's one of the better ones that doesn't involve shrinking or enlarging anything.

I certainly think it's something to consider. The net looks awkward, but if it works, no one will really complain save for a few hockey purists who will still watch the games and buy tickets.

Who cares if it will improve the performance of the players, it looks weird. Why don't we just remove those big ugly nets above the glass behind the goals. What was the NHL thinking? Saving lives? Improving the NHL experience for the players and fans? Obviously the color of the nets is much more important than that. We need to get our priorities straight. Color first, safety and performance second.

It's a better idea than the enlarging of nets.

It's interesting. I wonder what the records are for goalies wearing predominantly red (and thus easier to hit?) uniforms in the past? Was Patrick Roy easier to hit in road games for the Habs in 1993? Just how was Theodore MVP again? Hmmm...

Looks like garbage. The whole point of the white netting is to be able to see the black puck crossing the line easier. This wont happen dont worry.

Thats great, there isn't a CBA so every article should be about that. We shouldnt dare think about what do when hockey actually returns. All articles about the CBA is great. Hell since theres hardly ever any real news about the process, lets just slap different dates into old cba articles.

And I'm sure you can back that statement up. Do you honestly believe that they considered anything other than white nets? Do you think anything other than white or maybe a light brown/off-white net even existed a hundred years ago?

Jeez people, this in an incredibly minor thing, and it's backed up by scientific research. I can't believe there's so much opposition to it.

Is "white mesh on the nets" that traditional that a potential improvement (no matter how small) proven by scientific research should be ignored?

I liked it and as someone who does play hockey I can see his point. When I take a shot going by whats in the corner of my eye (from the point, with a defender in front of me etc.) the post is the first thing that catches my eye. Now my aim is bad enough that it makes little difference but I think he may have a point. If anything the article was an interesting read (if it was the one from THN).

^I concur. I say try it out in the AHL like how they experiment on everything else before anything is confirmed. I don't mind change, but funhouse nets are redundant!
