After I read this article, I scrolled back up expecting the byline date of April 1. The assertions made in there are quite amusing. It should be noted that Grayson Fertig is not only the author of the article, but the inventor of the net that is the subject of the article. That coupled with Fertig's mathematical and scientific errors casts much doubt upon the conclusions found there.

In a close call, the puck isn't in the mesh, and his eyes need to be drawn to the puck.

Then combine this net with that other net with the LED lights in the posts when the puck goes in ... and you have a hideous contraption that just might work.

Us colour blind folk will love those colours. If I was hockey player, I'd have a hard time finding the posts.

Interesting discussion.

Supplemental question:

For those of you who are opposed to this idea, how many of you are in favor of shootouts to decide regular season games?

How about the league worries about getting a contract signed b4 they start to worry about making the rinks look like a rainbow.

Picture your favorite teams rink with light blue ice, orange lines red goal net and gray posts.

Like I said they should worry about getting hockey going cause to worry about colors of the rinks makes no sense if hockeys not going on.

There's a whiff of pseudoscience about this crystalline lens theory, but I suppose THN is not the Journal of Biomechanics, or whatever. It certainly makes a great deal of intuitive sense; the red highlights the scoring area. It can't hurt.

How does this net proposal suggest that they are not worried about getting hockey going? It is possible to advance many different projects at the same time, if you are somewhat organized.

Exactly. Otherwise, we'll have to wait another couple months while the powers that be waste time discussing which rules and changes they want to implement for the next NHL season. Frankly, I want ALL the matters decided upon ASAP.

looking at the picture it seems i can pick out the net easier and quicker even with the oversized equipment on the goalie. so--- with red netting and downsized goalie equipment we may just have a 1 cure for the game.more to come i hope.

What does it matter what color the posts and net are if nobody is playing?

Well, for starters.. what can we as fans do about the CBA? It's quite obvious both sides don't care much. We love the game and this is a hockey forum where everybody has the right to talk anything that concerns.. well.. hockey, thats why.
