There's a few guys they can grab from Midget AAA... Or they might promote an assistant..

Well with the trading window looming, the Armada have already upgraded their team, what with the recent league decision to award them a 5th overall pick in the next draft... that will take their assets level up another notch, which should allow them to sacrifize some youth this summer in order to bring in a premiere defenseman.

Because let's face it, the Armada next year with a 20 yrs old Marcoux, a solid offense, their young defense PLUS a good quaterback, could be a very solid team. And that Telus West Division is wide open.

I gather the crop of the Q goes something like...
Fucale, Gibson, Marcoix, Brassard...then I read about Cadorette who back stopped the Drakkar to the finals, and what about the rookies in Rimouski and Drummonville?

The Q league is puzzling...so much talent on offer, so little info...lol
Here's how I would rank the goalies right now:

1 Zachary Fucale HAL
2 Brandon Whitney VIC
3 Philippe Desrosiers RIM
4 Etienne Marcoux BLB
5 Marvin Cupper SHA
6 Francois Brassard QUE
7 Philippe Cadorette BC
8 Sebastien Auger SJ
9 Antoine Bibeau CHA
10 Alexandre Belanger ROU
11 Louis-Philip Guindon DRU
12 Robert Steeves GAT
13 Carl Hozjan ROU
14 Alex Dubeau MON
15 Francis Desrosiers BC
16 Jacob Brennan BAT
17 Philippe Trudeau VD
18 Eric Brassard GAT
19 Francois Tremblay VD
20 Domenic Graham DRU
21 Robin Gusse RIM

Likely won't be back: Lagace, Honzik, Nishi

#57...you are awesome.
Thank you so much.
So whats the story with this gang.
I know the Q is famous for its "Butterfly Style", but when I look, I cant believe how Big a lot of these guys are.

Did BB-Armada have an injury issues this season with Etienne Marcoux, hence the acquisition of Decelles?

Some names I can recall from recent NHL Entry Draft Guides, such as Brandon Whitney, who has been solid for the Tigres for some time, ad Hozjon, who I remember also being Tigre in his Daft year, but there are quite a few new names on the list, such as Philippe Desrosiers, Marvin Cupper and Philippe Cadorette....whom I knew nothing about, until I read reports here (thank you QuebecPride and LittleBlack)

Is there a Ron Hextall type--volitile "stay out of my area" guy?
Who is the best puck handler- ala Marty Brodeur?
Is there any that have particular key traits and skills?

The only one I have saw, in the Q, is young Fucale, at the Memorial Cup, who I think is a great talent: I gather he is superior down low:?

Thanks again for this info.
I really appreciate EVERYONES input.

Fun fact, the best puckhandler in the 'Q as far as goalies go is Storm Phaneuf. This kid is very agressive with his outings and isn't scared to make plays. But he's far from the best as far as goaltending goes. If I go by the list #57 provided, I'd say Desrosiers is the best outside of his net, but I haven't seen any of those goaltenders extensively enough to really judge their hability. Fucale isn't bad at it either, but I'd give the edge to Desrosiers, he keeps it simple, but he makes the good plays most of the time.

It would be hard for me to argue with #57's list. Just shows you how much of a question mark the goalies are for Sherbrooke. Not even one in the top20.

Thanks so much QPride and #57, really kind of you.
I recall that the wonderfully named Storm was BBs third goalie?
(he played after the massive brawl against the Drakkar, right?)

Going to try and see some footage of the goalies to diferentiatte between them all, but alas, (as I have moaned about it often) the Q highlights seem difficult to find.

Loving all this info though, and am very great-full

Hello RJ...Thank you for that.
Very, very interested to see you mention Sebastien Auger so high.
What is it in particular that has impressed you so much?
I gather, as the Sea Dogs are in a deep state of transition, that the guy will be facing a lot of pucks!
Thanks again!

Interesting that both Wildcat28 & RJ both place Auger in the top 3.
I have tried to google Sebastian Auger in the hope of finding a scouting report, to discover what makes him regarded so high, but have drawn a blank.
If he really is as good as I am now believing, and the Seadogs draft high this year, get a couple of quality imports, then perhaps the turnaround there may be quicker than I first thought?

Again, thank you all so much.
Please do keep the info coming....

You don't hear a lot about Auger but most of the time I've seen him play in Halifax he's stood on his head, which is impressive especially considering Halifa'x offense last year. He just seems to make the saves he has no business making, and gave that Seadogs team a chance to win most nights.

He's flown under the radar for awhile now. He doesn't get much attention , maybe because Saint John are in a rebuild. He created havoc for the Wildcats' last season. Stood on his head in almost everyone of their games, making highlight reel saves. He definitely stole games for SJ all year round. On top of all that, he was a star in about 1/4 games he played even while on a bottom feeder facing 40-50 shots per game and getting hung out to dry in the second half with a inexperienced defence. He'll likely get dealt this season as he'll be very sought after by contending teams. The Seadogs should be able to get some premiere assets for him to help their rebuild.

Rumour has it that Charlottetown might try to acquire Brent Andrews or Darcy Ashley so they can play there last year closer to home. GO ISLANDERS GO

No, Groulx threw him under the bus. He was doing just fine, and then he was told to pack his bags and leave when Steeves came back. I still think we should have kept him, played him once every four games, and let Brassard start in Junior AAA for a season.

I agree with you there. It certainly doesn't show good when trying to attract future FAs. Come in , play decent, do what's asked and we'll send you packing. I know Gatineau don't have an abundance of 20s and Steeves' will probably start the season but, do you think they'll keep him all year round ? Or try to add a goaltender ? Brassard going to challenge ?

I'm still mad about the Nishi situation. Don't even get me started.

It's really tough to say on the goaltending front. I suspect that Steeves will be given every opportunity to keep his job though. I don't think we'll trade for a goaltender unless disaster strikes. They've made it clear that Brassard is our goalie of the future, and we still have Duckett-Dufresne, Bergeron, and Newport waiting in the wings if there's a minor injury to one of Brassard or Steeves. As always, I don't think it would hurt to at least consider drafting a good goaltender. I hope that Michaud isn't even invited to camp though...

Langlois signed a pro contract, so I'm pretty sure he won't be back, and I think Hyka will be in Manchester. My gut feeling is that we're going to try to trade for a good 19 year old defenceman at the draft. Not really sure who, but a solid 19/20 year old defenceman in the mould of Étienne Boutet would really fill a hole.

I think our OAs for next season will be Steeves, Tardif-Richard, and somebody that we trade for before the season starts.
