Yes it is, because it is the only scenario that is remotely believable. Avs could try to sell being prepared to trade down to 5-6 and not a single GM would believe it for a second, making it a pointless bluff from Avs.
I don't think this is true at all. It would depend on the package being offered, and FLA and TB would be hard pressed to find out that info. Barkov and Nichuskin are no slouches, and TB and FLA know that as well.

4-7, you're being far too kind. we have guys who are 6-7 types playing top 4 pairing minutes. we could use some 4-7 types.

Things could change because of the change in management but based on the Avs track record, I doubt they would take a European that high (Landeskog is basically Canadian ). They also aren't going to take a Russian who is already making demands.

I think Avs will be taking Jones 1st overall but if they do trade down, I really doubt they go below #3.

He did. He kind of went a little crazy after it too. Sherman had to go to Northern Ontario, to Zanon's cabin, and bring him back. Some say his mind is still in that cabin....

My point was that it doesn't seem like this is just posturing talk hoping for an overpayment, because you don't posture by saying you'll only trade with two teams. I think it's easily believable from FLA or TB's perspective that Colorado would trade with #4 or 5, depending on the package. By saying you're not really interested in that you lose leverage.

I think they're being somewhat honest. They don't view much difference between the top three, and if FLA and TB want to give them a decent piece or two because they do see a bit of a difference, they'll take it. If not, or if they just offer scrubs, they'll keep the pick.

Nice! I suppose the hormonal imbalance after the procedure may explain the radical facial hair, too. As well as the over-emotional blow up at Kiszla for standing on the logo. Things are all starting to make sense.

Time to play a month of chicken with Florida. "I swear we will move this pick if you don't smarten up and give us good stuff."

They're playing the same game with Tampa and Nashville.

Tallon: "Colorado’s in the driver’s seat right now,. We know we’ll get a hell of a player at No. two ... or three or four. It’s a deep draft and we’ve already drawn a line on the sand (as to how far the Panthers will drop and what they’d give in a trade). We’ve gone through every process and every situation this week and we’ll continue to re-hash this through this month. We’ll be ready for every situation come June 30th.

I'd be surprised if anything comes out of it because if you're Tallon, I think you're pretty confident taking your chances of getting MacKinnon at two. Paying a little something to make sure you get your guy might work, but if Avs ask for anything substantial I think they can live with a small chance of picking Jones instead.

edit: Tallon interview

Sounds like he's targeting a forward with his first and likes defender depth later (drafting for positional need? IDIOT) and is willing to discuss trading up (if inexpensive) and down.

Let's face it - the dude can't miss with the first few picks in this draft. The defining moment in Roy's career will be if/when he ships Stastny out, what he will get, or if he plays hardball.

Honestly the impending Stastny trade is more important to me than the Avs 1st pick.

I'm not so sure Stastny will be traded. I imagine ROR will be moved before SOS.

Or how he deals with the O'Reilly situation.

Roy can't do that much for goalies as a head coach in the NHL.

But Roy will get a goalie coach in the coming weeks since Varlamov asked for it...

Is it possible for us to accumulate the Roy interviews with links into the first post or something? I remember we had all the links for his interviews the first two days, but sounds like there have been a few more and I haven't gotten a chance to hear them. Maybe one consolidated list would be helpful.

That would be helpful, I'm at work all day (getting ready to leave now for it now) and they don't like it when we use the computers for personal access.

If someone wants to PM me/Post the links to the Roy interviews from the first 2 days, I will make sure to edit the original post and put them in there.

Specifically the ones from the Canadian markets (such as RDS/TVA if they're available) would be helpful as well.
