The Hockey Gods Must Be Writing This Script

Oh, hey there. The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings, two Original Six franchises, will square off Wednesday night in Chicago for Game 7. Barring any future relocation, this is the last playoff matchup between the two organizations until a potential Stanley Cup Final. Would Hawks and Wings fans have it any other way? Hawks fans want to give the Detroit franchise a "proper" send-off, and Detroit wants to know Chicago out one more time before heading to the Eastern Conference next season. This is a game that means an incredible amount to both organizations and their fans. There's no way the hockey gods were going to let Chicago continue to waltz through the playoffs, and there was no way these gods were going to let Chicago get knocked out in five. This is going to be an epic game, and it will most likely be the last playoff matchup for a long time. It's going to be a a special, special game between two rivals since 1926.

Why have it any other way?

I'd have taken a 4 game Hawks sweep, then maybe my life expectancy wouldn't have had years shaved off of it.

Yeah, I would have taken a sweep, but a Game 7 is going to be all kinds of epic. It's obviously going to be the most uplifting or deflating experience as a fan.

I thought this would speak of the 2 game 7s with Western powerhouses poised to go all-in on a fierce matchup, the winners whom will be poised to doggedly battle to face the winner of the 2 Eastern goliaths after they rumble

Don't worry, game 7 will be anticlimactic just like game 7 of the 2002 WCF.

Hawks are going to win like 8-0 tomorrow.

The only epic thing about tomorrow is going to be the epic Wings meltdown. Our D is worse than anything I have ever seen.

What's kind of interesting is there has been no overtime games. It's unusal to get to a game 7 and have both sides winning games 4-1. Most of the Wings fans never expected to get this far with the way the team played most of the short season. Good exciting series. LGRW

I will agree it's surprising to get to a second series 7th game with the amount of turnovers we make on D.

I'm predicting overtime, only because it's insane that we haven't seen one through six games so far. Overtime is where I don't like the Hawks chances, Crawford's focus vs. Howard's focus.

If that's the case I guess the Bruins said no to a 7 game series with the NYR or did Krug not get the memo?

I think one of the team is going to crap the bed, and get blown out.

6-1...Hawks

Written like a real fan. Nicely done!

As a neutral fan who's watched and respected both teams since the late 60s, through Hull, Howe, Mikita, Yzerman and Lidstrom, this is going to be all the excitement without the heart attack. I think Hawks will take it, but Detroit has already surprised me so their winning wouldn't shock me.

Actually, nothing will shock me, which is why I plan to enjoy the game without yelling, crying or punching anything. There's a lot to be said for not being overly invested emotionally in either team.

There is also a chance of the Final Four containing the last four champions. Not sure if that has happened in any sport since the expansion era.

He definitely cares about Detroit and Chicago, but that's as far "West" as he goes.

In classic Chicago sports tradition I'm sure we'll be let down and one of our most hated rivals will give us the final "**** you" before heading east.

I predicted the Hawks would bow out in the 2nd round regardless of opponent. It seems like we're going to see it come to a head tomorrow night.

Lucky you

Although thankfully I get to watch a great game tonight under those conditions.

Told you guys it wasn't over... ugh.

I can't imagine Hawks not winning this game. I just don't see it. Playing at home, momentum etc.
