This draft has a number of redwoods from the WHL who just had seasons where they went like 1-7-8 with a bunch of PMs and a few poor +/- stats. Maybe Snow 'n co. will pull one of those rabbits out of their hat.

Haha, I hope so. I guess we'll just have to raid the WHL for our next 'Ledoofus'. The Q is old news.

If Santini is there at 34 though I'd take him without hesitation. Right off the bat I'd consider that a successful draft.

Some Sharks fan also proposed 15th + mid-late pick for Demers and 20th. I'd probably go for that one as well.
I think Petan will be a steal for someone later on in the first round. The WHL is one of the tougher junior leagues physically, and he has acquitted himself well. Maybe my eyesight is deteriorating, but he doesn't seem as small on the ice as he is listed.

Maybe there is another player in the Q with the last name Leduc. With 2 Leduc"s Scott could have twice as much fun.

We're in luck, Julien with Val-d'or!

And we have a winner. 'With the #106 pick in the 2013 Draft, the NY Islanders are proud to select Julien Leduc from Val-D'or of the QMJHL.'

He is a RH shot though.

I'm really hoping for Jackson Houck in the later rounds. I think this kid could be a better Colin MacDonald.

We have to get Petan because we lost streit....we need to keep up with confusing Butchie!

Leduc's not that bad man....if he keeps his game simple...he could be a very good shutdown Dman.

Now, if would have just drafted this Leduc (Joe), I would have been happy. At least this Leduc can fight.

Glad I keep the draft from being boring . You should see my posts from the 1999 draft ripping the Mezei and Kudroc picks. Too bad we can't find those. I think Hockeysfuture used a different message board system back then.

Just trying to have a little fun until draft day, Scott. So we dug out another Leduc.

Dont think so. In many games last season he was the best player for PA (ahead of McNeil)
If he works hard during the summer he should be a lot stronger next season.
Without injuries he should be atleast Top 20.

No worries Degen Rex. I can laugh at myself, if you're gonna make fun of others, you have to be able to make fun of yourself as well. I enjoy all the Ledoofus talk, lol.

Really like Cehlarik though!

And I'm wondering if anyone will take Bobros.:-)
Interesting you say that about Draisaitl. I thought he was a beast in Ufa, even his skating looked fine to me as some apparently question that ability.

I really have not seen a lot from Sille and Bobos so I won't comment on them though they both do have good/great size. And again they share a similar flaw that almost all slovak prospects possess - sloooow feet. That being said Edmonton loved those tall defensemen from Košice so who knows

Draisaitl was better at the WJC than the U18. There he was a little sheltered by the older, rougher players, who however were exposed for their many other weaknesses. Still, this allowed him to kind of do his thing.

At the U18, Leon was smothered and didn't respond well, save for his one mega-game against Slovakia. In the other games, he looked very mortal.

Still has a lot to learn and must learn to deal with constant attention. He also needs to get back on his horse quicker after one or two of his magic passes doesn't work out.

Poll

Only 13 more days until D-Day, so I'd like to take a quick and dirty poll of how many of you think we:

- keep the 1st pick
- trade it (up, down, or for a player as part of a package).

There's no need for depth on this one, I am just trying to get an overall trend for the board. Thanks ahead of time for your opinions.

This pick has a very good chance of being traded either for an asset or in an attempt to move up or down (trade down is far more likely)

Trade down and use the 2nd rounder to pick a goalie, with the first rounder make a swing for the fences type pick(say Klimkuck)
