It's a very real possibility Avs might trade No. 1 pick, or try to trade to get top two picks. Gonna be interesting

Interesting.

Colorado needs Seth Jones more than they'd need Nathan MacKinnon or Jonathan Drouin. Not sure why they would trade down to get either of those two. This team needs defense badly. The offense is fine when the team is healthy.

This is essentially a weak cupboard team making a more to fill more depth thru prospects. As it stand he Avs have a some what good prospect pool where they have players who project to be good but not great.
The Avs are also a team who lack high end skill on the D core. I just don't see a move that does t some how involve Hedman where the Avs move this pick to Tampa. Especially for another 2nd.
Then that's that. The Lightning have no reason to move a 22 year old proven defenseman signed to a great long term deal for a unproven 18 year old.

Barkov shouldn't be grouped with the top three.

Really? So what exactly is Sakic doing as GM?

Sakic has the final say on all hockey operations. So if Roy makes a trade, Sakic has to approve it, likewise for FAs, draft etc.

Sakic isnt the GM.

Hes the Executive VP of hockey ops.

Hes essentially the guy who stands above all decisions as the final say. But hes not the negotiator.

Actual GM greg sherman is guy being "pushed out". It seems hes being put in a position to manage the financial decisions, ie. cap management, re-signing of contracts, etc.

You think teams don't shop around picks to see what they can get?

either trade the pick to florida, or pick jones at #1, or at the worst trade it to tb if they want jones. keep the perfect scenario of mackinnon to florida, jones to the avlanche, and drouin to tb.

I know you are joking, but 1. That'd be impossible 2. Not nearly enough for Weber.

Lets say its decided at this point that it will go
1 - Jones
2 - Drouin
3 - Mackinnon

And Tampa really wants Drouin

Maybe Colorado trades #1 to Tampa so they can draft Drouin before Florida can.
I don't see Florida taking Jones over Mackinnon.

So it would be Tampas 3rd + something to Colorado for 1st overall.

Drouin goes 1st, Mackinnon goes 2nd and Jones goes 3rd.
Tampa and Colorado both get the player they want.

How would that make any sense for the Lightning? Dealing a twenty-two year old grossly underrated strength at a position of weakness and a potential star for one potential star at aforementioned position of weakness is horrendous asset management. I'm a huge fan of Jones, but that would be one step forward and two steps back.

An early 2nd rounder isn't enough to move up 2 spots. Hmmmm.

Of course they're contemplating the move, but are they willing to make the move? This isn't really news. Every year a team is thinking about it and every year they keep it

I doubt the Lightning trade up for any player besides Jones. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we even pass on Drouin for Nichushkin.

If you can do that and still get the guy you want it's fantastic.

I'd prefer Jones and #33 to just Jones.

Agreed, seeming how Philly opted to try sign him and forfeit 4 first round picks to Nashville...

When the two spots are 3 to 1, no.

Maybe if it was 10 to 8.
