No reason for the Leafs to give up their best forward to add an 18 year old.

So, Kessel, who could walk after one season, Gunnarson (decent, but overrated greatly by Leaf fans), to upgrade from the 20-something'ieth pick to a potential generational talent. Yeah, um, I think COL says no. I know I would if I were a fan of theirs.

And if anyone would know about first overall picks, it is an Oilers fan... Jus' sayin' .
The original offer posted by the OP is what everyone was laughing at. The offer in the OP now is a lot more even. Still it makes zero sense for both sides.
This offer now is horrible for Colorado.
Kessel has 1 year left before he hits UFA!!
Gunnarson and the 20th pick + a year of Kessel for Jones / Mac?
Ugh. Horrible. I would not trade the pick alone for Kessel (who probably will command 8M from the Avs atleast and still is only a winger that is not good defensively...)
Hells to the no.
The original proposal with Rielly and Kessel would have been hard to turn down. But this one is easy...
