Could Roy pair MacKinnon and Drouin?

how's this ---

ROR
Barrie
32nd OV

for

2nd OV

Avs could then prob squeeze a 2nd/3rd out of TB to promise not to draft jones, and then take mac/drouin 1 and 2.

---edit-- NVM, can't trade ROR. what a bummer.

Avs wouldn't trade both of their OFD prospects.

That's a trade I would make in NHL 13.

This is just the same thing as last year where people desperately tried to re-unite Yakupov and Galchenyuk. Needless to say, that's wholly unnecessary - junior chemistry is overrated, as it might not even translate well to the NHL.

O'Reilly is overrated. He doesn't have a very big trade value either.

Aside from the fact they can't trade ROR, that's bad, bad value.

Colorado doesn't have the pieces to deal with Florida.

Something around Erik Johnson and the 3rd overall may work with Tampa Bay, but even that's a stretch.

No way Calgary gets 6th pick If they have ROR and others.

It's actually fair for Florida to ask for Duchene. Duchene + is a little much, but Duchene for Jones/MacKinnon is more than fair.

The way I see it,
If the Avs want Jones they'll probably move down to #2 to grab him, if they want Mackinnon they will just take him with the 1st overall, if they want Drouin they will trade the 1st overall to TB for 3rd +

It all depends on who the Avs actually want to select and by the sounds of things they aren't even sure themselves yet. So yea, Roy is not lying when he says there's a possibility of trading the 1st overall.

Wouldn't ROR have to pass through waivers unless they wait until the off-season? So, either they lose him on waivers to try and get him on the roster or they wait until the off-season to get him on the roster.

Does Stasny + Elliott/Barrie + Something even come close?

Gotta think that if Colorado woulda taken the compensation for O'Reilly they coulda swung something.

Stastny is a UFA in a year. I don't think Florida would consider him a main part in a deal for the 2nd overall pick.

I went with the mentality that they would want a center, and that Duchene would be off the table (ROR being off the table as well, since they can't trade him for a calendar year).

You're probably right though, unless Staz came with an extension, but even then...

Jones-Hedman backing up Tampa Bay's forward core for the next decade. Start printing the banners

I get the sense after today that Stastny is in the long term plans of the Avs. I imagine if he was in the deal though it would be conditional on him extending his contract after the trade.

Colorado is one of the few teams with the assets to do it. It would probably take Duchene though, with one of Florida or Tampa possibly adding their second rounder. Not sure either team would do it, just a thought.

Of course Colorado would never trade Duchene for that pick, but it's not about "how Colorado values Duchene" or "Duchene is way more valuable than the second pick." It's about how Florida values the second pick and, odds are, in a deal with Colorado, they'll be asking for Duchene.

i agree i don't think there's much of a deal to be had unless duchene goes the other way. which i don't want to happen i wish the draft was tommorow.
