Next years line combos

What do you think realistic line combos would be for next year?

Mine:
Gali-Jumbo-Burns
Patty-Couture-Havlat/Trade/Hertl/UFA
Hertl/UFA/Nieto-Pavs-Torres
Wingels-Burish-Sheppard

Boyle-Irwin
Stuart-Hannan/Demers/Tennyson
Braun-Vlasic

Niemi
Stalock

If we're talking current roster minus wildly ridiculous and speculative trades which we all know are not gonna happen...

Marleau - Couture - Havlat/Trade/Free Agent
Galiardi - Thornton - Burns
Torres - Pavelski - Havlat/Hertl
Wingels - Burish/Desjardins - Sheppard/Free Agent

Vlasic - Braun
Stuart - Demers
Boyle - Irwin
Tennyson/Vetern Free Agent

Niemi
Stalock

So basically the same as yours... though I think you have some sides mixed up. I also think that, in terms of ice time next year, Couture's line will end up being our 'First line'

Haha yeah I don't know the sides to well. I know Havlat is a RW and Marleau is a left! That's about it. And I just put the lines. There was no order just that i came up with.

I just changed your lineup to one that I like the most. I think this 3rd line would wreak havoc on teams.

Maybe, but I absolutely do not think they will bring Hertl up to play 4th line minutes. He would be better served playing first line minutes in Worcester. It would be a waste and hurt his development...

I would put money down that they don't have him up in SJ to play that few of minutes or to play with scrubs like Burish and Desjardins lol

I'd rather see Hertl playing in the AHL than on the fourth line.

I do understand that and I wouldn't mind your lineup either. I just remember Torres-Pavs-Wingels was pretty good so I didn't want to break them up.

Perhaps Wingels and Hertl can split time on that line.

So you want Havlat as a backup goalie? I didn't know he played goalie!

I'm sure his groin will be fine going post to post.

I'm also sure Havlat will break his foot if he dropped the pen on it.

Well all that padding and lack of playing time should help him from getting injured.

Realistically, Havlat would tear his groin charting faceoffs.

This looks like the lineup for a game after it's gone through TMac's Line Blender™

If a couple things go well in camp or early in the season...

FORWARDS
T.J. Galiardi ($1.100m) / Joe Thornton ($7.000m) / Brent Burns ($5.760m)
Patrick Marleau ($6.900m) / Logan Couture ($2.875m) / Martin Havlat ($5.000m)
Matt Nieto ($0.925m) / Joe Pavelski ($4.000m) / Tomas Hertl ($1.350m)
Raffi Torres ($2.000m) / Andrew Desjardins ($0.750m) / Adam Burish ($1.850m)
Tommy Wingels ($0.775m) / James Sheppard ($0.866m)
DEFENSEMEN
Justin Braun ($1.250m) / Marc-Edouard Vlasic ($4.250m)
Brad Stuart ($3.600m) / Jason Demers ($1.400m)
Dan Boyle ($6.667m) / Matt Irwin ($1.000m)
Nick Petrecki ($0.715m)
GOALTENDERS
Antti Niemi ($3.800m)
Alex Stalock ($0.750m)

Veteran presence? Check.
Youth? Check.
Speed? Check.
Trolling potential? Check.
Butt checks? Check.

$400k in cap to wiggle around and you have Wingels and Sheppard around if Havlat is still a glass cannon. A UFA is going to be fully dependent on either A) Torres not returning, B) Boyle being moved, or C) Havlat being moved.

Though I like my first lineup better, the benefits of this are letting Hertl play center which is his natural position (though he has played wing recently as well, so that shouldn't be a problem). If we want him to grow into being a 1 or 2 C in the future, maybe he should be playing there. Secondly, it would allow Havlat to be his winger and considering his limited english and just the general comfort factor of having someone from his country to talk to and mentor him on and off the ice as an NHLer and what it takes and living in a new country for the first time and all that stuff.

So... that's an option too. Either looks fine. This lineup would really depend on whether Hertl is capable of centering his own line and being effective immediately. We just don't know about that yet, it would be a gamble for sure. Kind of tossing him into the lake and seeing if he can swim type of thing which the Sharks haven't been known to do.
Not bad but the major change I would make is havlat and pavs. Pavelski was not productive at all with marleau couture. Put havlat there and he is much better as a center. Also hertl has been playing rw for some time. So marleau couture havlat. Pavs Torres hertl would be a scary third line if hertl is ready. He's got a hell of a shot. Time will tell

Why does anybody want Marleau-Couture-Pavelski after how awful it was in round 2?

.
Pavs on line 1 doesnt work, clashes w/ PJ.
Sharks are most dangerous with Pavs 3C and Joe knows and relishes that role.He still is going to get his PP time.

Patty-Logan-Hertl
Gali-JT-Burns
Torres-$$-Wingles
Shep-Desi-Bur

Would love to see at some point early on next year Neito take a shot at Gali's spot w/ JT and Burns
