Difficult to compare but chose Toews. He's an outstandingly complete player who makes the players around him better. Kane is a dynamo offensively, but he's usually a one man show- he can carry a line but its because he's just creative on his own and doesn't necessarily make the best use of his linemates.

Right now Toews is the better overall player as he has a D game while Kane doesn't.

Kane is the better offensive player and if you need to win one game you take Kane.

On the Habs, Toews AINEC. On the Sharks, Kane AINEC. Different players. In a vacuum, I'd say Toews is more versatile and as an all-around player, definitely Toews.

I'm just glad my team doesn't have to play against either of them.

Surprised people are picking Kane when in a ton of discussion threads the center wins out simply because they are a center.

Kane.

He just brings it when it matters most.

Cannot say the same of Toews.

Not like he set up Kane for the OT winner or anything.

Question is who is the better player, not who is playing the more important position

Pretty close.

Went with Kane because of how shifty he is. Comes up huge (SHG vs NSH, Cup OT GWG, WCF OT GWG), he's an amazing playmaker and can put the puck in the net.

Toews is better at a lot of things, such as leadership and defensive play, but I just like Kane's style more.

Toews is the much better all-around player. Kane has gotten progressively better without the puck, but he's still a loooooong, looooooong ways behind Toews.

......Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight

Toews hasn't had a good playoff run this year, but the notion that he doesn't usually step up when the stakes are highest is insane. Whether it was the 2010 run, the Olympic MVP, scoring a short-handed goal from his knees with 2 minutes left against Vancouver (2011), extending the series in OT against Phoenix (2012), or lighting up the PP in game 5 against the Wings, Toews comes up big when he's needed.

To me Kane is very underrated on this board and Toews is very overrated. I guess Toews is Canadian and has "intangibles" so he will win.

Kane.

As a Canucks fan who used to hate the Hawks with great passion. Kane has become my favorite player in the league, or atleast tied with Kesler.

I didn't even notice Kane in game 5 vs. Minnesota or game 7 vs. Detroit. Sort of funny that people like to pick and chose what games matter most.

I would've bought that last year but Kane is not anywhere close to being underrated this year.

He kind of doesn't.. at least no where on the level of Kane.

2010 he was good for the first two rounds but after that series against Vancouver he did kind of vanish scoring only 1 goal against the Sharks and only putting up 3 assists against the Flyers.

Olympics? Who cares it is international hockey that has no baring on NHL play at all.

Its tough to compare them because their games are so different.

Kane is a far better offensive player than Toews. Toews is better defensively and the more complete player.

Toews easy, and I hate hate Toews. Kane is such a lousy backchecker and he floats up high while he lets his centerman go deep in the corner for him. Defensively Kane = Ovechkin

Kane more explosive offensively, quicksilver on ice. Toews much more well-rounded, leader, better defensively.

Voted Toews.

In my mind it's Toews. He's a center and the team's leader. Kane has more pure offensive talent.

Their talents complement each other beautifully. Don't know why Quenneville doesn't play them together more often.

I feel ashamed because when I first joined I publicly agreed with something he posted before I realized he just irrationally bashes Toews all the time.
