Marleau to the Sens for anything reasonable (He probably has a NMC though).

What's the price for Thorton from a leafs perspective? He's already 33 and it may not be a realistic move in actual NHL circles, just curious what Shark fans are looking for (realistically).

And what about Pavelski?

The only person I can see from their core being ,over is Boyle. What really did the Sharks in is a lack of depth in the bottom six. Part of this is from injuries/suspension.

Sharks need young, top-6 forwards or prospects who are safe bets to be top-6 forwards, and early picks. That's the price on guys like Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski, Boyle. You could get Havlat for cheap though.

How about Havlat for Booth?

Sharks shed some cap space and get younger and more physical, Canucks add an injection of skill for our 2nd line.

Havlat for Booth makes sense for these teams. Vancouver needs skilled forwards who can score goals and create chances. The Sharks need faster top 6 guys who can produce with the already solid cast they have.

In all honesty the Sharks this year looked as good as they have ever in the playoffs. The Kings are just a better team with a much more deep lineup. I figured the Sharks would go on to win it since that's been history of who knocks out the Nucks over the past decade or so.

Booth is just as injury prone as Havlat and a worse player. No thanks.

We could easily trade Pavelski if needed.

@Toronto fan up there - I would love to give Thornton a shot at the cup in Toronto, and I would love to acquire Morgan Rielly. It is possible something like that could be worked out.

Ideally we would be looking at something like Philadelphia did. For Carter and Richards, they each got one NHL player that was a second line caliber guy, and a blue chip prospect. I get that Thornton and the other assets we have are not quite as valuable, due primarily to age, but I would be looking for something like that, that can help now and later.

I do not think Marleau would be traded, just because of sentiment, more or less.

Boyle we would likely want a first round pick anywhere in the draft.

Havlat for Booth is awful for us, no offense.

1) They had goals from the bottom 6, though not in the LA series
2) The reason for this is because our idiot coach did not play Pavelski on the third line.

Lets talk Boyle to Toronto what would it take?

I feel like this team is ready to to turn the corner and is only a couple peices away from making a serious run.

I think we have the makings of a very good D core but a couple peices are miscast.

Right now our D looks like this.

Phaneuf Gunnarson

Gardiner Franson

Fraser Liles

Not bad but Gunnarson is slightly miscast he should be with Gardiner Brining in Boyle solidifies everything and gives Reilly the proper time to develop.

Phaneuf Boyle

Gardiner Gunnarson

Franson Fraser

throw in the Kessel Kadri, Lupul and JVR's for scoring and that's a team that can make a run

From Toronto, for Boyle, I'd think this year's first round pick would be the thing San Jose would want.

Swap to get younger

to Chicago Pavelski, Thornton & Boyle

to San Jose Kane, Seabrook, Bolland, Frolik & rights to Stalberg plus Chicago's 1st rounder.

As much as I love Danny, I'd do that. Toronto would be stupid to do that for one year of Boyle since it's unlikely he would re-sign.

I'd say it's a coin-flip whether Boyle plays another game in teal.

not. trading. pavelski.

Shakrs need more young scoring forwards, not less. If they're trading pieces to get younger, it will be the veterans, not our second best forward under the age of 30.

From an independent observation.....

I would suggest San Jose look into moving Marleau and/or Thorton. The intent of this deal is to aquire a few younger vets that would add to what they were lacking.

Naturally any deal of either of one of these players likely goes to the east.

I think Ottawa or Toronto would certainly make an offer for them.

Marleau on the other hand... but I dunno what he'd even fetch. Best bet would be to try and deal a few of those guys at the deadline, not the off-season, because his value just dropped after being totally invisible.
... Marleau is the least likely to be traded, followed by Thornton. Boyle is likely to be moved, if the right deal comes along.
