I'd say it's a coin-flip whether Boyle plays another game in teal.
3 years ago I could see why he wouldn't sign an extension but now why not? team is on the rise and will soon be a legit threat

B. Seabrook, Brandon Saad & Chicago's 1st rounder for Thornton & Boyle. plus a face wash from Toews to sweeten the deal.

Pavelski is great especially for 4m a year. I can see wanting to hold onto him.

Did you miss the part when he offered Patrick Kane?

I would say no. We need a puckmover and don't need Seabrook, look at Philly, and I see Saad as more of a second line quality guy in his prime.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Give this core at least one more year. They deserve it. Resign Thornton and Marleau to hometown discount contracts when their contracts expire and let them retire Sharks. Marelau has speed like Selanne and look how long he's lasted. Thornton will always have size, and be a faceoff specialist if he loses his legs. If Thornton was being honest last year, he thought he had a decade left in his legs. In the meantime either resign Torres, or find a replacement. I think that his history is a liability, that hit did not constitute the suspension in my opinion. If we can find a way to trade Havlat I am all about it. I would be very interested in trading one of our players from an area of strength (Defense) to an area of weakness (Offensive depth). Demers or Braun in a package could yield us a young top-6 forward that would complement our core now and in the future. I think that Tennyson is ready to earn a spot on our D.

Here is what I would like to have next season:

Galiardi-Thornton-Burns
(Demers Trade)-Couture-Marleau
Torres-Pavelski-Wingles
Burish-Gomez-Desjardins

Boyle-Irwin
Braun-Vlasic
Stuart-Tennyson
Free Agent Vetaran (top 5 caliber) (not Colin White)

EDIT: SHARKS NEED TO GET A SWEDISH PLAYER NOW THAT CRANKSHAFTS GONE

Looking back at the trade, Would you want Havlat or Heatley right now? They both seem to be stinking up their respective teams locker rooms

We also need to work on our 2nd powerplay unit. We completely relied on that #1 PP all playoffs.

Havlat. Heatley's contract is ridconkulous to say the least. Havlats a good player when he is healthy (not often). I would give him up for a 2nd-3rd round pick in this years draft, and try at trading for a younger replacement. It will be interesting to see what happens to our forward group. We have two question marks in our top-9 between Torres and Havlat.

People are saying just add a young top six forward like those just fall out of the sky. Where do you expect the Sharks to land one if they don't give up something valuable? Demers doesn't have the value to pull one in. Boyle's probably too old to pull one in.

Their best bet at this point if they want to try again for the Cup is to just hope Havlat stays healthy for once. However, I would seriously consider trading Pavelski if the Sharks have no interest in trading Thornton. Pavs on wing is working less and less. He had a good season with Thornton but that's the only way he produces as a winger. So either make him a 3C or trade him or trade Thornton.

I hear ya. Braun + Demers + 1st for Ekman-Larsson

But seriously, I think that roster is fine if we replace Gomez with Sheppard at 4C. I'd like to try to get a veteran winger like Stempniak or Filpulla to fill out our top 6.

I would be interested in Stalberg, put him on a third line with Pavelski and Torres and you got one hell of a line. I wouldn't mind then packaging Demers/Braun and Galiardi along with a pick (willing to give up a first) for a legit top-6 forward under the age of 26. Get rid of Havlat and you get...

Trade (1rst line player)-Thornton-Burns
Marleau-Couture-Wingles
Stalberg-Pavelski-Torres

That top-9 would be unstoppable.

leaves 9 million for trade, fourth line, backup goalie, press box players. Can spend up to 6 million on a forward/top puck moving defensman with that

What do you want for Desjardins? I like what he brings to the table, reminds me of Alex Burrows

I'd love Jumbo in Dallas. Admittedly I don't know much about San Jose's prospect situation, but how does a deal centered around Campbell sound for Thornton?

You have plenty of forward prospects I like. Start there. No need or want for Campbell.

I think its time for SJ to retool. They can get really good value for Thornton, Marleau, and Boyle.

And then build around Couture, Pavelski, Burns, Vlasic, Niemi, and all the pieces the receive from selling the above mentioned players. I think theyd get better trade value in return and have a significantly better remaining core than a team like Calgary that just entered a retool/rebuild.

Leafs have needed an elite number 1 center since Sundin left, what do you think it would take to get Thornton.

Done. I'd do that in a heartbeat, the Leafs need another D-man and a number 1 center. If the Sharks start to re-tool, I think it's time Nonis and the Leafs took the next step in this puzzle and gave up something for a Thornton or Boyle.

Mikhail Grabovski, Nikolai Kulemin, Matt Frattin and a 1st round pick for Joe Thornton.

Clake MacArthur rights for Cody Ferriero rights.

Jesse Blacker for two of James Sheppard/Matt Pelech/Taylor Doherty.

Seriously...this team lost by 1 goal in game 7 of the second round to the defending champions. A couple of different bounces and the Sharks are in the conference finals.

This isn't a Calgary situation where the team is struggling to reach the 8th spot with an older core. SJ is a contender. They should be trying to re-sign Marleau, Thornton and Boyle, not trade them.
