First all the people who are needling me, you can all go to...well, you know.

Don't want to get a ding for calling you all out on your constant "you were wrong you were wrong you're a dumbass you were wrong" crap, but its complete and total ************* and you know it. show some class.

Torts failed on the PP, no argument, but other than that he did pretty damn well with this club. accelerated the development of our kids, showed accountability to his vets. etc.

Torts is a great coach, the all time winningest american coach. only a fool would say otherwise.

Sorry for my ignorance guys, but what did Lundqvist say after the season that led to this

Lets see how you feel in a week, in a month, part way though next season. Really, he just got knocked out of the playoffs a couple of days ago. You expect him to be completely over it and 100% rational right then?

Any media outlet that would hire John Tortorella should be ashamed.

Who do you think is your next coach? Ruff? Vigneault? A farm system coach?

A coach who can take a team to the playoffs but can't seem to win a cup to save his life? Real big change from Torts.

Before AV was fired, VAN fans were complaining about the same exact things we've been complaining about with Torts. Playing favorites, not being able to adjust, being out coached all the time...AV is a new face with the same problems. If they fired Torts for him I think they made a big mistake.

I feel bad for Torts, I like a lot him as a person. But even though we went far in the playoffs two years in a row, we were never really close to winning it.

I congratulate John on giving the team a blue collar work ethic and personality. Perhaps he got too far out of balance but Torts' did good work here. He will be back coaching very soon.

And for the future, my guess is that Jeff Gorton is driving the bus on a replacement, not Sather. This is becoming his team and I do not believe he will be looking at the same old news (Ruff, Vignault etc.) as a coach. My choice is former Ranger Dallas Eakins, currently coach of the Toronto Marlies of the AHL and widely considered to be the best coach in the AHL
I like Eakins, he meets two important criteria for me - 1)Never won it, wants and needs to prove himself, not rely on past glories 2)Knows todays game, not yesterday or when Gretz was still playing. He knows todays hockey and knows how and when to adapt.

And that fits our #1 player in Henrik. He knows how to adapt and make ridiculous saves the norm that Ranger fans take for granted. Well, the new coach has to put his head down and work, not be a performer and show he's the leader, just lead.

Your not a newbie to Rangerland, this is the norm around here. It's certainly not 'lets keep the status quo !'

Thinking Ruff will be the next coach since its the lazy choice.
Ruff if it's actually Sather's pick, but I side with the side that says it's Gorton running the floor now. Sather sits back with a stogie General style waiting for the 2nd in Command to come back with the data.

I've liked Tippett for many years. He plays a similar blue collar style, not a whole lot of turnaround for a team that can't afford alot more, but I like that he gives the offense a new look.

Tippett is describing the impact of offensive zone possession time on the results that occur when a given player is on the ice. Player A can be a good defender, but if he is constantly defending instead of carrying the attack away from his net he is endangering the results of the team as a whole. Another implication of his statements is the value of defensemen with the ability to move the puck effectively.

Can Sather fire himself now?

What is this, the 5th firing of a coach under him?

This is a desperate, stupid move on the surface. Unless he completely lost the room and some other things happened I do not approve. He's a half season away from winning a conference and made the playoffs the last 3 seasons.

Im actually really pissed right now.

Who's the replacement... make your cases... I dont see it being much better.

****ing Sather.

If he avoids the media again he deserves to be fined heavily by the NHL. The fans need some ****ing transparency with the management. I want to know the plan.

Team quit on him early in the season either he somehow got them back for a bit or they played out of pride. Made the playoffs didn't want to lose to the Caps didn't want to up their game to the Bruins level for Torts. That relationship was strained for months.

Just my opinion.

Disagree.

I think the Rangers have a bunch of very solid puck movers that haven't been used correctly in that sense.
