As a pens fan, why would you go to watch 29 other teams draft? At least you can be late and miss the first 2 rounds.

Also, I hate the draft all being on one day, and not starting until 3 at that. It's like the NHL actively tries to do the stupidest thing possible whenever the opportunity arises. Teams just going to bunker down for 8 straight hours of drafting?

We have only 5 forwards signed for the baby pens next season. All of them being prospects. Hopefully holzaphel and gibbons are kept. The rest werent much help.

Sounds like there'll be a lot of new blood then. Whose the 5 forwards they have so far? Megna, Uher, Sill, ? , ?

That is not a great situation in a deep draft. Niskanen and Kennedy need to go for whatever 2nd, 3rd rounders we can get IMO. If we're lucky we could get 2x 2nd rounders for them.

Wonder what we could get for Iginla's rights. Probably nothing as teams may assume he doesn't want to play for Bylsma.
Honestly, I agree, but looking at it from Shero's perspective he might think "well, Dumoulin hasn't played an NHL game yet and Matt Niskanen has been very good for us, we should keep him"

Kennedy should be traded, he was fine in the playoffs but I don't think there's room for him on this team anymore, trade him for a 3rd.

I like Dustin Jeffrey but he fell out of favor with our coaching staff, of all the lineup changes in the playoffs, he's a guy that never saw the ice. Trade him for a 4th.

EDIT: Just looked, Dustin Jeffrey never played a playoff game for the Penguins.

I know that Megna, Uher, Kuhnhackl, and Zlobin are under contract for next season. I think that Payerl is the other guy. Gibbons and Thompson are restricted free agents so I think that they might be back. Based upon what people who have watched WBS play more than I, it seems like Holzapfel and Peters would be welcomed back. Farnham was popular as well. I also seem to recall that MacIntyre has another year on his deal.

Just saw a profile of Nicolas Patan from Portland on NHL Network. Being ranked around 33 by TSN. If we get a 2nd round pick in a trade he looks like the kind of guy that might slip to the bottom of the round because of his size (5'8" 165) but has big skill and speed. MSL Lite? Button FWIW said he reminds him of Zetterberg style-wise and a guy who might get passed on because he's small. Might make an interesting pick? God knows our scouts love Portland. Heh.

Will be interesting to see with McKinnon and Drouin, playing together. Anyone think one (more than the other) benefitted from playing next to the other guy, and that he wouldn't be as highly ranked had he played somewhere else? Not suggesting it just asking. That would always enter my mind with guys like this, is one just riding the other's coattails to a degree. But Drouin was the one with the huge numbers this year and by highlights certainly looks like he is the type of player to create something out of nothing while McKinnon is more of a sniper?

It used to be 12 rounds, starting at Noon. I used to go all the time. I think I sat through six hours once, then headed to a ball game. Now THAT's a good sports day.

CV, I LOVE Nicolas Petan. He was one of the most impressive players for me at the Mem Cup. He's shifty, cerebral, creative...

...yeah, we're not picking this guy.

This can go here as well. If this is true, then he has to be planning on moving Niskanen/Kennedy, right?

#TribHKY Shero would like to move into 2nd round for a pick #pens

Two most likely candidates for 2nd rounders, for sure. That's what I've been saying for weeks.

If we acquire an early 2nd round pick we might. Stranger things have happened.

No, I meant he's shifty, cerebral and creative...so WE are not picking him.

But I sure hope so, I love this kid.

Also, I think we would have to deal BOTH Niskanen and Kennedy with the hope that someone might possibly bite on that.

On what planet would Kennedy fetch a 2nd round pick by himself?

I meant earlier that either Kennedy or Niskanen could conceivably net a 2nd round pick. Kennedy would most likely not get anything but a late 2nd rounder though, at least not this year. Other years, just depends on how strong the class is. Niskanen would probably move you up a good 15-20 spots from wherever Kennedy got picked.

Nobody counts MacIntyre as an actual hockey player.

Because I enjoy the draft, and seeing where players go. As a pens fan it may be boring, but I will still be interested in seeing how everything goes tomorrow. My brother won the tickets, so its not like I payed for them.

He's closer to being a bear than he is to being a hockey player.
