But we REALLY need to get some more picks and refill the pipeline, especially forwards.

We have assets to move. Ignlas rights, Kennedy, Jeffrey, Niskanen etc.
Decide who we wanna keep going forward, and who we can spare. The clock is ticking tho, especially if we wanna trade the rights to players
Your forgetting that this is an old boys country club and none of those will be moved.

I'm praying we go defense with our first pick again whenever it is.

As much as we need help going forward. I do too.

If Sven Andrighetto is still available in the 3rd round then I really hope we go for him.

I was being sarcastic. I will just enjoy the board meltdown again.

Not for us unless we trade up. Isn't the 3rd round and beyond on Sunday?

For some reason I thought it was on Saturday. It's all in one-day this year though isn't it?

Yah you have that luxury of enjoyment; some of us suffer, pal!

Bottom line: if our first pick is a late 3rd rounder, who cares what position it is? That's BPA territory in any draft.

Given that anyone drafted in the third round has about a 10% shot at making it in the NHL (and that wouldn't be for several years), watching a flat stage of the Tour de France might be more interesting. Of course, there may be some trade fireworks in the earlier rounds.

Very deep draft class, probably the best since 2003

I fully supported (and still do, I guess) every move made at the deadline, aside from maybe the Morrow trade... though he looked alright down the stretch. But man... it really stings to have to sit on the sidelines for this draft.

We actually got a pick(3rd rounder) in the Morrow trade

For me it was the Murray trade, losing our 2nd rounders in 2013 and 2014

Yah and you could try to guess which 30% of the field is guilty of blood doping too!

That sport is a joke. Needs to be cleaned up bigtime.

I know. I realize that they can still get a quality player or two in the later rounds, if they do their homework (must... refrain... from sarcastic comment) but not having a pick in the first two rounds hurts especially bad after completely ******** the bed in the post season, again. They didn't get much bang for their buck.

Yeah, probably 100% of the guys that would be sprinting at the end.

I think the Pens will make a pre-draft move to get an earlier pick (Niskanen? but I don't know if he'd get us a 2nd), but I suspect it will be before draft day.

My money is on signing Letang, trading Niskanen and Kennedy for 2nd round picks.

Regardless, I think we are bordering on must draft forwards no matter what territory. With all of these defense prospects it's virtually impossible to get them AHL playing time in the future let alone NHL. It's not at that point yet, but it could be with one more draft.

It makes even less sense to draft a defenseman again when this team already won't give a shot to what they have.

Yah I hear you. At some point the log-jam demands that it becomes Best Forward Available, but you never know when one or two of these stud D might be traded. Hopefully for something more than Brendan Morrow.

Not looking forward to the day if / when that move bites us in the ass. Just wait until Joe cracks our goalie's helmet with a slapshot or hits one of our players in the face and ends his season. We will all feel shame on that day.

We won't feel shame but Shero should.

If Murray doesn't resign with the Pens do they only give up a 2013 2nd?

From my understanding of the trade, yes.
