Boyle, Pyatt, and Zuccarello?
Boyle - 2 goals
Pyatt - 6 goals
Zucc - 3 goals
Cant have that kind of thing.

Compared to the blackhawks, their third line was

Stalberg - 9 goals
Shaw - 9 goals
Saad - 10 goals

Really can go through any of the playoff teams, and all of them have much better talent throughout their offense than the front loaded rangers.

Firing Hitchcock was one of the biggest blunders in that franchise's history.

Nash had his best season under Hitchcock that year and his second best season came the year before, still under Hitchcock. I'm not sure that was really it. Certainly goes against everything I've ever heard about it.

Zipay on NHL Network thinks Slats should consider Larry Robinson

Well respected, creative on offense and will help the PP, and brings a winning attitude.

Wouldn't be bad. But only because he's not coming directly from the Devils. That never works for us.

eh, Robinson hasn't been a head coach in a post '05 lockout NHL. Very risky considering the guy we just fired. Also, I find it funny some of you guys are saying he is offensively minded.

There were rumors, again rumors on Hitch and Nash having a rift near end of his tenure.

I remember it being discussed on the CBJ board a few days earlier.

I don't necessarily agree with the decision to fire Tortorella. Yes, I'm a fan of his. I understand why he was fired, though. But I thought with a first round win, he bought himself a month or two next season.

I don't think it was all that fair since there was a shortened season with a significant roster turnover and a shortened training camp. Again, I understand why it happened. The power play, inconsistency from the team as a whole and major players and a dreadful power play.

It is what it is. It's probably the right decision when it's all said and done...... We'll see.

Anyone who likes a puck possession offensive system should endorse a Vigneault candidacy.

I'd like Babcock( not happening) , Vigneault, Eakins or even Hakstol.

Torts was a good coach. I personally would not have mind if he was given a full season. However, I've always been a HUGEEEEEE fan of offensive puck possession hockey; which I've seen Bowman and Babcock do with the Wings. Which I've seen Vigneault do with the Canucks.

Yea, they moved guys around like all teams do, but you look at any of the guys that spent time on that third line, they were far more productive than the guys the rangers were trying to play there.

I don't know because I can't go back and replay an alternate version of history, but Hagelin would have moved down, and who knows what the trades would have been, as well as if Gaborik, Kreider, and Richards performed at a reasonable level. So it's really hard to say.

IMO Torts lost the players early in the year, and I'm fairly certain it started with the role players who take a beating and end up getting benched for one turnover. They regrouped a bit, but you could tell there were stretches where these guys weren't having much fun playing hockey.

Scratch Tippett. He has an agreement in principle to stay in PHX once ownership situation is clarified. Coyotes will not grant permission to any teams to interview him.

Zooks played 15 games. Prorate that over the entire season and he would have been near the other guys you mentioned and have more points.

I would say personnel is 90% of the reason for success and coaching might be 10%.

Since Torts has already won a Cup we know he can. The difference is personnel. Unless you believe he took an overdose of stupid pills.

In percentage. Percentage only tells half the story.

Powerplays don't work that often. The very best ones still score less than 3 out of 10 times. What they do consistently is change momentum. I've never seen a powerplay not only fail to do so, but actually give momentum to the other team more than this year's Rangers powerplay.

Not according to Canucks fans. This guy sums up what the rest of them were saying about him on their board.

Dont get me wrong either, av is not nearly as bad offensively coaching as torts was, he at least had the players go out and work the PP during practice and had them try to figure it out themselves I know earlier this season (torts did not practice the PP apparently), but if that is what they are looking for to improve the team (a completely new look with offensive creativity, better breakouts, and an improved PP) then I dont see av being the guy.

When I think av to the rangers I think its a fit because he would coach a similar defensive close checking style torts did but possibly better, however it does not sound like rangers fans want an improved tortorella coaching approach to the game, they want a completely new look.
