Outside perspective, while I understand why Sens love Methot (solid #2 defensive d-man), they are getting the 7th pick in a very good draft. If you can get a Nicushkin, Lindholm, or Monahan, it's something you'd have to consider on their end. They'd be a worst team next year and obviously, need a replacement for Methot, but value-wise, I think they're gaining more. Again, it makes them a worst team next year regardless, but they can mitigate the damage if they can replace Methot- and stock their cupboards even more with blue-chippers.

Senators need Methot more than the 7th overall pick next year. No way we do this trade unless we really want Alfie to make his decision faster and retire. Methot is the perfect defensive partner for Karlsson and no way we break that up.

Sure the Oilers could use Methot but could they use Stone?

And I doubt they are enough of a difference to make up for the difference in draft picks # 7 could still be an impact guy, at Ottawa more of a crap shoot, unless the Oilers like someone who might drop.

This trade would give Ottawa a future player and a duo of puck moving d men if Gonchar doesn't get resigned.

NICK Schultz. You know, the guy pictured below:

This trade makes absolutely zero sense for us. Methot is going nowhere. Stone is the exact kind of prospect this team needs. We're looking to compete now. The re-build is nearing it's end.

Pass, Methot is perfect for this team. Really became my favorite player on the team when all the big guns were down injured.. all heart & hustle.

For the record, its Nick Schultz. Your picture is clearly Jeff Schultz.

It's an interesting idea for a trade.

It's certainly a gamble on Stone.

And not sure if Methot is worth making that trade for.
