He could basically be looked at as Hejduk's replacement for the next 3 years. We could use our 2014 1st then to draft someone to eventually replace Tanguay at that spot.

Something else us Avs fans have sort of been talking about has been Ryan Wilson.

He's a big, hard hitting physical #4/5 Dman who might end up being the odd man out in Colorado(As he's the only halfway expendable guy who actually holds value for the Avs).

Would something like The #32 + #63 + Wilson for #29/30(PIT 1st) + Tanguay be any bit close for the Flames?

The 32 + Wilson is probably a little much just to move up 2 or 3 spots in the draft, but then the 63 for Tanguay is probably a little on the low end as well. Take those 2 trades separately and combine them and IMO its fairly balanced.

But I could be wrong.
I would be interested in something around Wilson and Tanguay personally. What about just keeping it simple and go with Wilson + the 63rd for Tanguay?

I would think most deals might start around at least a second round pick or late first and go from there especially if the flames eat some of the cap hit.

I don't know much about Wilson honestly. Is he a viable #4D option? Or is that a stretch?

He is, he can pass the puck is decent defensively, he's a pretty good fighter and he's one of the best open ice hitters in the NHL (he just loves to plow through Taylor Hall), but he has one major flaw, every time he really heats up he gets a wierd injury or he gets cheap-shoted like he was when Lapierre hit him from behind.

I think the Wilson + 3rd deal for Alex could end up being a good deal for both teams, Avs get a mentor for their young guns up front and the Flames get a young defenseman who can play at the #4 spot and a 3rd rounder in a deep draft.

Yea, Wilson + 3rd is something I could get behind for Tanguay.

Sounds like we have a deal

Now if only Feaster & Sakic would listen

Thanks for the info. Seems like a bit of a Regehr-lite, with a slight offensive touch?

Makes it sound like a palatable deal to me.

Funny thing is Wilson used to be a Flame, we traded him in the deal that brought Leopold back to Calgary.

Sounds exactly like the type of big body we are missing on our back-end.

This deal makes sense, therefore it will never happen.

Might make sense for sure but isn't Wilson injury prone?

A lot of Calgary fans would probably be against this but what about something around Tanguay + Pitts 1st for Stastny + Col 3rd?

You might as well say the whole team isn't part of the solution. If Calgary isn't going to do a proper rebuild, the best thing they could do is replace Feaster with Burke. He turned the garbage roster of the 2008 Maple Leafs around, keeping only Grabovski & Kulemin. Even his most criticized move gave the Leafs a PPG scorer.

Hire Burke. Keep Baertschi, Glencross, and Giordano. Move the rest.

No thanks from the Avs.

But I'd be down for Wilson + 3rd for Tanguay as proposed earlier.

No interest in Stastny. Not on a good trajectory. Stay away.

Have always liked Tanguay, think the Sens would have to give up a 2nd rounder and Jared Cowen to get him though.

What rest? The only other older players the team has left are Tanguay and Cammy. Cammy is out at the end of this year for sure and Tanguay is also being shopped.
