I'd do JJ, Urbom and the 9th for the 2nd in a heart beat. Urbom is NHL ready but expendable. JJ we have no room for either and I rather have MacKinnon or Drouin then Shinkruk/Domi...

That's a total no brainer from a Devils standpoint. But why would any top five team do that?

Lets be serious here. Elias said he wants to be back but is unsure if Lou wants him back (Probably thinking they may not offer him a deal like Sykora because he is getting up there in age)

And then Lou said he wants Patty back sooooo

Patty will be back

Depends how highly they value Josefson and Urbom.

If a team sees a second line center in JJ and a second pairing defenseman in Urbom, they might rather them plus a pretty good forward instead of just MacKinnon/Drouin, especially a team like the Lightning, who has dynamic offensive guys but need to round out their team. Same goes for Carolina with the Staals and Skinner.

Especially after the Parise BS, can't buy anything any player says until the contract is signed

True but Elias is a Devil lifer. Has already won 2 cups. Has a family with kids in the area and I doubt he wants to move

He also has a weasel agent. That never works out well (see: Meehan with Nieds and Parise).

But both of those had family implications onto why they moved

Parise had no family implications. Parise was all about Suter and money.

I'm also pretty sure Lou tried to convince Suter to come here because he knew Parise wanted to play with him.

Suter had no intentions of playing in the Eastern Conference, but yes, Lamoriello said he did.

Saying J.P. Parise is the reason we lost Zach is like saying Carol Niedermayer is the reason we lost Scott.

JP did a lot more to undermine the cause publicly. I can't say for sure he did or didn't have an impact, but he certainly didn't help. There's no proof he didn't have an impact because he clearly wanted Parise gone and Parise left. He almost certainly told Chico (his old teammate) something cause Chico was ultra-negative about Parise staying from the hop last year.

I don't know how anyone can be called a lifer until they say they retire. Never understood what that word meant.

Mike Modano and Ray Bourque were both lifers at one point.

And with Nieds' problems I was more referring to the holdouts under Meehan than him actually leaving as a FA. The holdouts were at least partly agent driven, his FA wasn't, he took less money to leave.

None of us know anything from either Parise nor Nieds situation nor do any of us know who had any ounce of influence on either signing where they did, it is all speculation that has been speculated and speculated and is still riding around the merry go around clearly

and honestly, who gives a flying **** about how either player left anymore? they left and it's long and done with, neither affects this team next year or in the future
