I think the Sharks have shown that players like Chimera 2.0 can be drafted in the later rounds, traded for, or signed for. I'd rather take a shot at a riskier player. That is the kind of player the Sharks need going forwards.

My number 1 choice at 20.

He is not really a Chimera. He is a finisher, very good speed, good hands, physical, and has a good shot. Chimera is fast with limited offensive ability. If you get a Chimera at 20 that is a bad pick.

Nahh. I don't usually comment on the draft much, unless DW is trading picks to move up (something I am not generally in favor of unless you are moving into the top 5 and I don't see that happening).

I'm sure he'll give me lots to complain about come July 1st. And I should back in the U.S. next season so I will actually be able to watch some games. So enjoy the relative silence while it lasts.

It doesn't? Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer then.

I know we mostly need wingers, but we also need an eventual replacement for Burns. Are there any D prospects good enough for us to move up to grab (Ristolainen? Nurse? Pulock?) That would be better than a forward we could grab with a similar move up?

Last year they picked Hertl at 17 before the draft. I hope they're right again.

I'm so anxious for this draft. So by the time #20 comes up and we draft a "Who?" I can go back in solitude and realize it's another DW draft. But I really hope we trade up a few spots, who knows; maybe for another Ottawa 67.

I'll probably read up on the draft within the next few days. I know next to nothing except about a few of the top guys, which the Sharks are not getting. I hope they take the best goal scoring forward available, preferably with speed.

And it's going to be really weird that the entire draft is all in one day.

Does anyone think Curtis Valk might get drafted this time around? If you were a GM would you use a late round pick on him? I was talking to a medicine hat staffer about Shinkaruk, and it seemed like the conversation started to go all Valk, really quickly. I've seen him a few times live over the last few years, and he's a really talented WHL player, and I could see him maybe growing into his game at the pro level. So my question to all you smart people out there... Valk... does he get drafted?

So the Devils will lose their 9th overall this year. Why didn't those morons give up their 29th pick last year?

Sounds like they're appealing losing their pick but they can defer it til next year, which they're obviously going to do.

When people call Lou L a top-5 GM I just laugh.

I didn't see a lot of Valk but from what I've heard about him from others I'd think it's pretty likely he'll get drafted.

What would be their argument for deferment? Having a poor season?

They had to give up a 1st round pick in one of next four drafts after they signed him (2011, 12, 13, 14).
