Detroit says no.

Frk is much younger and has a much higher ceiling (top 6 forward).

Zach had a solid season in the AHL this year (decent 2011/12, too) but probably tops out as a 5/6 D at best.

And Detroit has logjam at D prospects anyway, they'd trade them out before get one.

Detroit doesn't need more D prospects.

He is a NHL ready RHD that can play PP and PK well, and a 2 time AHL All-Star... ready to not be a prospect anymore, but no need is no need.

Frk could end up being a physical goal-scorin' winger; while Redmond would be behind Kindl, DeKeyser and Smith on the young-dman playing time front, if he was even in the NHL.

Easy no for the Wings.

I'm so pissed the Jets drafted Sutter over Frk. Frk was exactly the player that we needed in our prospect pool and instead we take Sutter who looks like an ECHLer.

detroit would be more likely to trade into the top 3 to acquire one of frk's linemates than to trade frk

neither will happen though

fair value, redmond will probably be a 4/5 guy, frk looks to be a bottom 6er with upside. If i'm WPG I do it since we have a deep core on d, apparently detroit doesn't do it though.

This is the kind of trade the Jets need, we have 5 NHL RHD. We need RW help.

Redmond isn't a bottom pairing d-man now, never mind what he projects to be. He played 20 mins/game and had 4 points in 8 games before being injured. Kid has potential, just not offensive potential. Jets fans are pretty high on him.

If he's playing on the bottom pairing for the Jets, that's only because Byfuglien and Bogosian are ahead of him. Now add in Trouba and Postma, you can see why we should unload a RHD.

He is good prospect. However, behind Kronwall, Ericsson, Smith, Ouellet, Sproul, Backman, Kindl, Dekeyser we don't really need D men.

Yup sounds like we're not a good match for this at all. There are other teams that are looking for a RHD. We'd probably prefer to move Buff anyways.

Terrible proposal, and I can't stop laughing at Jets fans who think Redmond isn't a bottom pairing d-man.

Definately is a 3rd pairing d-man currently, but to think that he doesn't have higher potential which can possibly reached this upcoming season would be equally as short sighted.
Not 1st pairing and likely won't be able to carry a weaker partner on the 2nd pairing, but #4 is quite obtainable.

Yes, he has potential like every other player. But currently he is a bottom-pairing d-man and nothing else.

Yes... but not all 3rd pairing D are equal just like not all prospects are equal just because they are nothing more than a Jr or NCAA player currently.

A person's value doesn't consist exclusively where they currently are. Plus the potential is something a lot more tangible than let's say a JR player. This person may very well be at that next step next season. Which is a valid opinion for some of these posters to have.

Sorry, it's just kind of a silly response IMO, that's all.

You should never count a Sutter out.

Frk is a goal scorer and our prospect pool at forward is mostly playmakers so that makes him a bit more valuable to us.

Top it off with a defender which we don't need. Just can't do that trade.

if the Wings were gonna trade Frk it would be as part of a package for a high ceiling Center, not for a low ceiling Defenseman

the Wings already have Kronwall/Ericsson/Smith/Dekeyser/Kindl/Quincey/Colaiacovo/Lashoff signed at the NHL level(well technically Smith and Kindl aren't signed yet but they are RFAs)

and a defensive prospect pool in Grand Rapids thats so deep they'll be playing a couple of them in Toledo
