Dallas Eakins will coach...

so far we've heard that Toronto Marlies head coach Dallas Eakins has talked with Vancouver, Dallas, and the NYR for head coaching positions, as well as with Edmonton as an associate coach.

so where does he land?

Hopefully NY.

I think he'd be a good fit for any of these teams. Eakins is a great coach, period.

So it's kind of hard to predict.

I'll say NY, for now.

I kind of get the feeling that NY and Vancouver are going higher profile.

I'll go ahead and say Dallas, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Vancouver.

I have a feeling he will kill in the interviews and get teams that by default wanted a veteran coach to think twice. I think Dallas will be very interested in him though and might offer him a job first.

Dallas just so TSN can come up with a clever headline.

But really, it seems like it would be a good fit.

Voted Vancouver, but meant Dallas in Dallas

Although I'd prefer him with the marlies.

Dallas or Edmonton.

I think Edmonton would be the best fit for him. Less pressure to "win now" and he wouldn't be thrown into a head coaching position right off the bat.

Vancouver and NYR would probably want someone more established

Vancouver or Edmonton. Edmonton would be a nice opportunity to ease into the NHL. Vancouver seems to be a good fit to me for some reason.

imo there's zero chance he goes to edmonton. he was already an assistant with the leafs and made it clear he wants to be a head coach

Wouldn't surprise me if he was that in Edmonton within a year. Ralph should stay an associate coach.

Dallas and only because I think Lindy Ruff will get the job with the Rangers.

He wouldn't. He might go to be an associate coach, though. Why do people assume that associate and assistant are the same?

Cause he'd likely be the head coach within a year and he would have lots to work with.

I have a feeling he leaves Toronto, he's one of the best young candidates right now.

I think he goes to Vancouver.

He would probably do very well in Edmonton, He would really help the young guys at the end of the day. Edmonton should go hard for him.

They should, but he's probably gonna get the head coach job somewhere else.

I think NYR or more likely Vancouver (I'm voting for Van.) I think Dallas might not be eager to hire another guy without NHL head coaching experience right away.

on hotstove tonight they mentioned that the oil offered Mark Messier the HC job and he declined... so Kruger wasnt their first choice. Now they're going after a top coaching prospect as an associate (1B to Kruger).

the whole picture doesnt exactly paint a strong vote of confidence for Kruger.

I don't have a lot of confidence in him either. The Messier thing was a rumor, but this is the first credible source I had heard it from.

Is Dallas Eakins primarily American? He was born there, and he lives there.
