No action. No action. No action.

Bozak, grabo, clarkson, none of these names.

I expect nothing more than a Bob Corkum type signing.

I'd overpay Bozak before breaking the bank for Clarkson. There are rumors that he'll be getting a seven-year term valued at higher than $6 million per year.

The GM that does that will regret it greatly. Clarkson is a third-liner.

I think this 3 day 'talk' windows, along with the reduced cap will work and we won't see impulsive deal.

It will be no shock to see GM's clearing space with one hand and giving away stupid contracts with the other. Heck, Homer's already done that and he still hasn't fixed the parts of his team that appear to be deficient.

Next summer, I wonder how many of the guys signing today will be compliance buyouts? I figure a few will be and then those guys will get deals more in line with their ability/production... after taking a massive payout.

We fans sat through months of no hockey to watch mid-liners get $5 million a year in UFA? Christ....

I can't believe someone is going to pay upwards of 6 million for David friggin Clarkson. Stay home today, Darcy.

Hockey people are stupid.

Seriously, look at hockey players who usually go on to be hockey coaches and hockey GM's. largely uneducated.

If Roy goes to Washington then Ribeiro has to go to Vancouver

Compliance buyouts can be used on players that are signed during this free agent period?

I thought the NHL would mandate they be used for pre-lockout signings only. A team like Toronto can throw $7 million at Clarkson, use him for a season, and then dump him?

Edit: Toronto is a bad example because they've already used both CBOs...but you get the idea.

Here's hoping that restricted cap growth and cap recapture will do what it is supposed to do:

Punish teams who circumvented the cap blatantly in the last CBA and even the playing field. It may take a few years, but I think we'll end up seeing more player movement because teams who go crazy this year will be actually cap jailed, unlike the last CBA where cap that rose nearly 20% a year was a get of a jail free card for teams that overspent on July 1st.

We have already seen buyers remorse on the career contracts with Luongo in Vancouver, expensive buyouts in NYI and TB. While the Sabres may surprise us, their approach of building a young core through the draft and complimenting with UFAs for specific roles is the right way. I expect the Leafs to make some dumb moves today. Buying out Grabo and letting Bozak and likely filling their roles with Bolland and at least one UFA center will make them older and slower. I loved the bolland move to compliment their existing centers...however, relying on an aging Bolland and a UFA center in their primary two scoring roles is a recipe for disaster.

Ah, I think you are right -- so the guys signing today will have those deals and other stupid money deals will be used to free up more space to have even more stupid money deals.

It's a damn shame that the lockout did seemingly nothing to thwart ridiculous player salary increases.

I'm fine with worthy players demanding that kind of coin. David Clarkson is not a worthy player.

What does that team's center depth become without him? Kadri?

Bozak at $4.25-$4.5M per year I could see -- that's Hecht money and he does some things a team wants out of a mid-liner. More than that though and it starts to look out of kilter.
