Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts have announced the details pertaining to their 19th annual training camp which will take place at the Barrie Molson Centre beginning Monday, August 26th. Returning players, free agents and draft picks will report to training camp on Monday for fitness testing before getting in to on-ice sessions on Tuesday.

The annual Blue and White game will take place on Thursday, August 29th at 7:00 p.m. and is free to all fans. More details coming soon.

This year’s training camp will include first round pick Matthew Kreis, USNTDP grad Kevin Labanc, Ivan Hlinka Gold medalists Brendan Lemieux and Aaron Ekblad as well as recently drafted goaltender Daniel Gibl.

After career years in points, leading scorer Zach Hall, Andreas Athanasiou and Mitchell Theoret will look to continue there strong offensive output this season. Also, returning netminder Alex Fotinos will look to solidify the starters job between the pipes and lead his team back to the OHL finals.

The 2013 Eastern Conference Champion Barrie Colts begin exhibition play with a Labour Day weekend home and home series with Owen Sound Attack.

Izzy is an agile goaltender who plays bigger than his size. He competes hard every game and has a strong glove hand. In addition to 23 regular season games, Izzy also appeared in four games at the 2013 OHL Cup.

Doug Blaisdell

Doug is described by Rangers scouts as a hard-nosed defensive defenceman with great size and skating ability. He played 21 games with the Detroit Honeybaked U16s in 2012-13, recording 10 points and 18 penalty minutes.

Last Year’s Team — Detroit Honeybaked U16, 3rd round Pick, 58th Overall in 2013

Kegan Blasby

Kegan is a very effective two-way player with above-average offensive skill. He shows a willingness to pursue the puck and has good vision on the ice. Kegan averaged over a point-per-game last season with the Markham Waxers midget team, recording 40 points in 28 games.

Eric Bogart

Eric is a big-bodied goalie with a physical upside. He demonstrates solid butterfly technique and good puck-handling skills. In 2012-13 he posted a 1.44 goals against average and a .944 save percentage with the Kimball Union Academy Wildcats.

Brown’s bit: A huge goalie who drew NHL attention while at prep school.

Mark Bzowey

Mark played 65 games with the Oakville Rangers minor midget program in 2012-13, averaging over a point-per-game with 30 goals and 43 assists. Described by Rangers scouts as a smart player with elite hockey sense who plays big and wins battles, Bzowey also recorded six points in seven games at the 2013 OHL Cup, helping the Rangers to a championship title.

Jacob Cascagnette
A native of Kitchener, Jacob played last season with the Kitchener Rangers minor midget program and averaged nearly a point-per-game in 2012-13, with 24 goals and 19 assists in 49 contest. He was also invited to attend Team Ontario’s 2013 Under-17 Provincial Camp, held earlier this month in Oshawa.

Stephen Cooney

Stephen is a big, strong winger who is always willing to drive to the net. A hard worker, he pursues the puck into the gritty areas of the ice. He recorded 19 points and 70 penalty minutes in 53 regular season games in the Central Canada Hockey League last season.

Mike Davies

Mike was the Rangers’ first round pick in the 2013 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. Described by Rangers scouts as an elite scorer with high end skill, good size and strong hockey sense, he recorded 73 points in 61 games playing for the Southern Tier Admirals in 2012-13. He was also invited to attend Team Ontario’s 2013 Under-17 Provincial Camp, held earlier this month in Oshawa.

Jordan Delaurier

Jordan is a big winger that combines a physical brand of play with an excellent work ethic. Jordan demonstrated his offensive ability and grit last season, recording 22 points and 61 penalty minutes playing with the Jr. B Kitchener Dutchmen.

Radek Faksa

Radek combines speed and skill to be a constant threat. He is a strong skater and has excellent puck protection skills that he uses to drive the net. The Rangers’ 2011-12 Rookie of the Year, he was selected in the first round (13th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Ben Fanelli

Ben is a skilled defenceman with good feet and great vision. Confident and effective on the blue-line, Ben is a playmaker who also demonstrates a strong work ethic. He was co-winner of the Rangers’ MVP award in 2012-13, and also won the team trophy’s for Most Popular Player and Outstanding Team Effort. He was also the winner of the CHL and OHL Humanitarian of the Year Awards.

Patrick Gazzilo

Patrick is a tough, fearless defenceman with great energy and mobility. A smart player who is willing to battle, he had a plus/minus rating of +20 in 2012-13, and recorded 73 penalty minutes in 59 regular season games in the North American Hockey League.

Last Year’s Team — Soo Eagles (NAHL), 9th Round Pick, 176th Overall in 2011

Brown’s bit: Catenacci-like in that he has a small frame but big work ethic. A favourite of scouts.

Jared Gilbert

Jared is a very reliable, puck-moving defenceman. He has excellent vision and hockey sense that he uses to gain possession of the puck and begin the rush. He played 53 regular season games with the Rangers in 2012-13, recording a career-high nine points.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Rangers, 3rd round pick, 56th overall in 2011

Alex Gilmour

Alex is a big, smart power forward who plays a physical game and moves well for his size. He showed a good work ethic and excellent hockey sense at the Rangers spring camp. Alex will be expected to carry the same intensity into the main camp.

Keigan Goetz

Keigan is a hard-working right winger who plays an aggressive physical game. He is hard on the forecheck and battles in front of the net. A native of New Hamburg, he spent 2012-13 playing Jr. B in Waterloo.

Last Year’s Team — Waterloo Siskins, Free Agent

Matthew Greenfield

Matthew is a technically solid goaltender who demonstrates quick legs and good rebound control. He battles hard in his net and shows great focus when tracking the puck. He played 24 games with the Team Illinois Midget U18s in 2012-13, posting a 12-7-3-2 record with a .914 save percentage and a 2.45 goals against average.

Last Year’s Team — Team Illinois U-18 (HPHL), 12th Round Pick, 236th Overall in 2011

Frank Hora

Frank is a steady, smart defenceman who understands the value of keeping it simple. He is a good skater capable of jumping on the rush when the opportunity presents itself and he reads the ice well and makes solid passes. He played 61 games with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres U18 team in 2012-13, recording seven goals and 18 assists.

Last Year’s Team — Buffalo Jr. Sabres U18, 8th Round Pick, 150th Overall in 2012

Brown’s bit: Should have best made bed on team, was in military school.

Max Iafrate

Max is an energetic defenceman who plays a physical game in front of his team's net and likes to deliver big open ice hits. He can also be counted on for his big shot and his ability to carry the puck out of his team's zone.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Rangers, acquired via trade in 2011

Brown’s bit: Invited to San Jose Sharks camp as a free agent.

Mason Kohn

Mason is a high energy forward with good skill who competes hard in the corners.
He played 52 games with the Shattuck St. Mary’s U-16 team in 2012-13, recording 24 goals, 21 assists and 63 penalty minutes.

Last Year’s Team — Shattuck St. Mary’s U-16, 10th Round Pick, 182nd Overall in 2013

Ty Learn

A strong skater with a heavy shot, Ty is a hard-hitting and tenacious player who adds a physical element to the lineup. He is a smart, creative playmaker who shows good speed and a scoring touch.

Last Year’s Team: Kitchener Dutchmen, 7th Round Pick, 128th Overall in 2012

Darby Llewellyn

Darby is a smart winger with high-end skill and good speed who understands how distribute the puck effectively. He plays the game equally hard in both ends of the rink and has the ability to score big goals at key times. He recorded seven goals and six assists in his first season with the Rangers.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Rangers, 4th Round Pick, 71st Overall in 2012

Brown’s bit: Been busy doing community work this summer in the region.

Ryan MacInnis

Ryan is an offensively talented winger with an elite-level shot and good hockey sense. He has good size and strong skating and puck handling skills. Ryan played 52 games with the US National Team Development Under-17 program in 2012-13, recording 15 goals and 10 assists and helping his squad win the 2012 Under-17 Four Nations Tournament.

Last Year’s Team — US National Team Development U17, 3rd pick, 46th Overall in 2012

Matia Marcantuoni

Entering his fourth season with the Rangers, Matia is a powerful skater with a hard shot who plays the game at a very high tempo. He enjoys playing a very physical game and taking the puck to the net. In June 2012, Matia was chosen in the 4th round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Ranger, 1st round Pick, 18th Overall in 2010

Nick Magyar

Nick is a gifted offensive hockey player with good hockey sense and solid puck protection skills, who possesses a heavy shot. He spent part of the 2012-13 season with the Cleveland Barons U18 team, and was one of the club’s top scorers, recording 13 goals and 21 assists in 31 regular season games. Nick also scored one goal and added five assists in 27 games with the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL last year.

Last Year’s Team — Cleveland Barons U18, 12th Round Pick, 239th Overall in 2012

Evan McEneny

Evan is an offensive minded defenceman who has developed the defensive part of his game to become a more complete player. Evan can make a good first pass and has the ability to join the rush. His size allows him to play an effective physical game. In September 2012, he was signed as a free agent by the Vancouver Canucks.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Rangers, 2nd round Pick, 34th Overall in 2010

Trevor McEneny

Trevor is a talented defenceman who moves the puck well and possesses a big shot. He competes hard and demonstrates strong work ethic on the ice.

Last Year’s Team — Niagara North Stars Major Midget, Free Agent

Brown’s bit: Yes, he is Evan’s brother.

Curtis Meighan

Curtis is a skilled player who has excellent hockey sense and combines this with a strong work ethic. He can be equally effective on the penalty kill as he can on the power play. He is hard on the puck and finds ways to get the puck to the net and was recognized at the Rangers’ 2013 End of Year Banquet for his Outstanding Defensive Ability.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Rangers, 4th Round Pick, 78th Overall in 2010

James Mense-Dietrich

James is a smart player whose ability to handle the puck and find open ice allows him to be a natural goal scorer. He recorded 26 goals and 21 assists in 28 regular season games with the Stayner Siskins of the Georgian Mid Ontario Jr. C Hockey League last season.

Last Year’s Team — Stayner Siskins (GMOHL), 7th Round Pick, 133rd Overall in 2013

Brown’s bit: Hoping he makes the team so I can refer to him as JMD.

Eric Ming

Eric is entering his fourth year with the team and scored a career high eleven goals last season, combining his determination and hockey sense to create scoring chances for himself and his teammates. He is a strong skater who plays well in both ends of the rink.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Ranger, 7th Round Pick, 123rd Overall in 2009

Jack Moylan

Jack is a big goalie who uses his size to his advantage. He moves well post to post and challenges the shooter to take away the shooting angles. Jack made his OHL debut in 2012 and appeared in three games for the Rangers last season.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Dutchmen, 8th Round Pick, 156th Overall in 2011

Brown’s bit: Still love the fact that his cat is named Ranger.

Connor Patton

Connor is a smart, hard-working winger who makes good decisions with the puck. He plays well at both ends of the ice and always demonstrates a strong work ethic.

Last Year’s Team — Walkerton Hawks, Free Agent

Brent Pedersen

Named the Rangers’ Most Improved Player for the 2012-13 season, Brent is a strong skater with size and a heavy shot and reads the ice well enough to effectively use his teammates. Brent won a bronze medal with Team Ontario at the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and in June of 2013 he was selected in the fourth round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Rangers, 1st round Pick, 14th Overall in 2011

Scott Pedersen

Scott is a big-bodied, physical defenceman who uses his size and his strong work ethic to his advantage. He played 27 games with the Waterloo Wolves Minor Midget team in 2012-13, recording 13 points and 76 penalty minutes. Scott also recorded a goal and an assist for the Wolves at the 2013 OHL Cup in Mississauga.

Last Year’s Team — Waterloo Wolves, 8th Round Pick, 140th Overall in 2013.

Brown’s bit: Another brother combo for the Blueshirts.

Christopher Poletek

Christopher is a big-bodied winger with the drive and ability to carry the puck to the net. He is unafraid to be physical when necessary, but also demonstrates a solid skating and puck handling skills. Christopher sees the ice well and is a hard-working, competitive player.

Last Year’s Team — Erin Shamrocks (GMOHL), 10th Round Pick, 199th Overall in 2012

Logan Schmidt

Logan is a smooth-skating defenceman who moves the puck well and demonstrates a high hockey IQ. He has high-end skill and good hands, and is capable of moving the puck and contributing on offense.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Dutchmen, Free Agent

Dmitrii Sergeev

Dmitrii is a hardworking, shutdown defenceman with an aggressive style of play who spent last season in Russia with Traktor Chelyabinsk. He also won a silver medal with Team Russia at the 2013 Under 17 World Hockey Challenge in Quebec, where he recorded one assist and 24 penalty minutes in six games played.

Last Year’s Team — Traktor Chelyabinsk, 1st round Pick, 23rd Overall in the 2013 CHL Import Draft

Brown’s bit: First Russian on team since Vasily Bizyayev in 2001.

Jimmy Soper

A Waterloo native, Jimmy played 48 regular season Jr. B games with the Waterloo Siskins last season, scoring a team-high 29 goals and adding 24 assists. He also scored a pair of playoff goals and two assists in the Siskins post-season series against the Stratford Cullitons. He was recognized as the Siskins’ Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player at their End of Season banquet.

Last Year’s Team — Waterloo Siskins, acquired as a free agent

Josh Sterk

Josh combines an energetic style of play with a high level of hockey sense. He is a tireless worker who plays hard on the puck and has shown an excellent ability to score. Josh is a good skater who can use his speed as an asset both offensively and defensively.

Owen Stewart

Owen is a big but mobile defenceman capable of jumping on the rush. He has good hands, a hard shot and shows good composure with the puck. Owen is an above-average passer who plays well at both ends of the ice.

Tyson Teichmann

Tyson is a big-bodied, agile goaltender with experience in the OHL. Teichmann spent the 2012-13 season with the Mississauga Steelheads, posting a career best 2.77 goals against average and a .908 save percentage in 28 regular season games. He won a silver medal with Team Ontario at the 2010 U17 World Hockey Challenged in Timmins, ON and gold with the U18 squad in 2010.

Scott Teskey

Mississauga’s first round pick in the 2011 Priority Selection, Scott is a mobile, skilled forward with great hands and vision on the ice. He has played 98 career games with the Mississauga Steelheads and St. Michael’s Majors.

Ben Thomson

A bruising power forward, Ben is entering his final year with the Rangers. He scored a career high 15 goals in 2012-13 and led the team with 119 penalty minutes. His physical play often results in puck possession for his team. In June 2012, he was selected in the 4th round of the NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils.

Jesse Young

Now entering his fourth season with the Rangers, Jesse is a hard-working defenceman who likes to combine his physical play in his own end with big open ice hits. Smart, simple and effective on the ice, he recorded 13 points with the Dutchmen in 2012-13.

Last Year’s Team — Kitchener Dutchmen, 11th Round Pick, 218th Overall in 2010

Danylo Znaczko

Danylo is a solid, all-around defenceman who likes to play with a physical edge. A steady presence on the ice, he competes hard and distributes the puck well. He’s a good passer with a willingness to use his body when needed.

Last Year’s Team — Toronto Marlboros Midgets (GTHL), 12th Round Pick, 235th Overall in 2012

Erie Otters, not sure if theres been a mistake, but devin williams isnt listed on the roster.

EDIT: Williams being held from camp as a precaution as he recovers from sports hernia surgery. Should be ready in time for the start of the season. Wigle out recovering from shoulder surgery. He won't be back until October.

The Kingston Frontenacs will open training camp for the 2013-14 season on Thursday August 29, 2013. On-ice scrimmages are open to the public on the following dates:

9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
