Did You Know?
(Sorry for the brief nature of this...sick last night so cuts had to come somewhere to get this done in time.)
  • The Penguins hold a 160-134 all-time record in the playoffs overall and a series record of 30-24 - winning Stanley Cups in 1991, 1992, and 2009.
  • The Bruins hold a 279-289-6 all-time record in the playoffs overall and a series record of 55-61 - winning Stanley Cups in 1929, 1939, 1941, 1970, 1972, and 2011.
  • The Penguins defeated the Bruins in the Wales Conference Finals in consecutive years en route to their 1991 and 1992 Stanley Cups. The Bruins won the first two games of the 1991 series, but lost the next 8 games over two years to the Penguins. The 1992 series was the last time the two teams met in the playoffs. The only Eastern Conference team the Penguins haven't faced in the playoffs since then were the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets franchise.
  • Eight different Penguins have scored game-winning goals in these playoffs; Crosby and Iginla aren't on that list.
  • If Anton Khudobin replaces Tuuka Rask at any point of this series it will be the first time this post-season that a goalie has worn a 'traditional' goalie number (#1, 30-39) in a game featuring the Penguins. The Penguins employ Vokoun (92) & Fleury (29) and have faced Nabokov (40), Poulin (60), Anderson (41), Lehner (40) and soon Rask (40).
  • The Venture Bros. is an animated show that debuted on the Cartoon Network on February 13, 2003. More than 10 years later a mere total of 55 episodes (and 3 specials) have aired. Season 5 finally debuts on tomorrow night (June 2nd) at midnight on the Cartoon Network with an hour-long episode.
  • The last episode of Season 4 to air was Operation: P.R.O.M., which aired on November 21, 2010.
  • The show was renewed for both a 5th and 6th season last March...expect Season 6 to start sometime in 2017.
  • The Venture Bros. is made by the Astro Base Go! team of Jackson Publick (real name Chrostopher McCulloch) and Doc Hammer (Eric Hammer). Publick/McCulloch previously worked on different iterations of The Tick, including the short-lived live version starring Patrick Warburton as the titular character; Hammer's background is with the gothic rock scene.
  • The show is a not-so-subtle spoof of Jonny Quest, with many characters being re-imagined versions of those characters and many Jonny Quest characters, including a drug-addled grown-up Jonny Quest himself.
  • Brock Samson, voiced by Patrick Warburton, makes an appearance as one of the four opponents in Telltale Game's recent game Poker Night 2.

Every time I think of Bruins-Penguins, I think of two things: Bill Guerin scoring that late, late and later goal to beat Boston and complete the comeback. I don't even remember when that was. And the other thing I remember is Crosby taking off his visor to fight Marc Savard, who wanted no part of that. It was an afternoon game.

I should think of Mario deking out Ray Bourque in 1992, or maybe the Cooke incident but I always go back to that Guerin goal and Crosby challenge. Weird.

Anyway, this game won't be the prettiest of this series, so hopefully we don't allow them to steal one here. We need to give Rask things to worry about right away. Don't allow him to get in a zone.

This week+ layoff was killer for me. The Pens are going to have to be at top form if they want to take this series. Anything less than 110% and they will be golfing instead of playing for the Cup.

I hope the ice conditions aren't as bad as some players have mentioned. The Bruins can benefit a lot more if the game is slowed to a crawl.

Time to unleash Mecha-Shiva on the Bruins.

Other than that, I'll take a turn at trying to post an appropriate song...

Watching this one from home tonight instead of being there in person, which should make it easier/less embarrassing to watch the whole thing from between my fingers.

Leaving for the game soon.

Wearing my Crosby jersey I have worn without a loss this entire playoffs.

Your welcome.

Well be screaming my head off the entire game (Mostly woooooooos for Big).

Again you are welcome.

And now posting the traditional big game lucky Asian girls doing cute things gifs.

These have about a 90% success rate when I post them.

I have done my part.

Oh if any of the Bruin fans or one of the other hater fan bases hammer the CEC crowd because they have no clue that the networks deaden the noise, then kick them in the nuts for me for being clueless. Even the women.

From the last game when people said CEC was like a tomb, and people actually there reported otherwise, my girlfriend whose ears hurt from the noise.

Yes, I'm doing this...

I know the Bruins have in the past and may still use this song. Someone should really let them know that Wiz is from Pittsburgh and wrote the song about our sports teams. Kinda like the Flyers using a Mac Miller song as their playoff music last year.
