I was hoping the layoff would help Sutter because he looked gassed in the last series but he was garbage tonight. If he's anywhere near the boards he might as well not even have a stick because he will never come out with the puck.

Could you imagine if we had a goalie drafted 1st overall who actually played to his potential?

Obviously the Pens dominated offensively in the first and the game plan didn't change. CJ did and it paid off. So minus for Bylsma.

Niskanen and Letang horrifically out of position.

Eaton needs to make that clear.
-Crosby you're the captain, lead.

+Rask and their defensive sticks.
+Malkin
+Neal
+Orpik
+PK
+Murray
+Vokoun was solid. None of those goals were his fault.
Martin needs to let Vokoun see it & play it. Second goal was awkward, I know Letang was trying to help..
Third goal-no defense

So despite what happened Vokoun saw the puck very well. No defense. Our defense needs to take a page out Boston's.

I was honestly very happy with the play through the 2nd goal being scored. It was tremendous. We could have been up 2-3 goals easily. Let's just stay focused there.

Couple small moves i'd make to the line up:
1) Engo or Despres in; Eaton out.

2) Vitale in; Cooke suspended (come on...we know it)

3) Iggy to Sid's line; Kunitz to Malkin's. Sid's worst game by far and Kunitz needs some new love.

Small Game notes:

- Sid's worst game I've seen...ever? Probably. Bad from the start. He's frustrated for no reason. Calm down, 87, and play your game. You are fine.

- Letang: Defense first, and we will be fine.
If Boston is going to put Chara on Malkin and Malkin is going the way he is and Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis can't get it done against Bergeron, then that's a no brainer.

Going to add one thing: If you look at where this game was after two periods, with the Malkin-Bergeron fight, that game was in the balance. Malkin did it figuring it would light a fire under the team's ***. Don't blame him. But, the response was horrible from everyone. Additionally, when the game got to fire wagon hockey in the second, Julien reeled his team in and Bylsma didn't. No way to dance around that. When Malkin fought Bergeron, the moment was ripe for someone to step up. Nobody did.

Nobody should be complaining about the PP. The first 3 were very good, should have had a couple of goals. The last couple were terrible, but they're not all going to be gems.

This was just a weird game to figure out.

On to game 2.
Not against this team. I will bet you anything the level of officiating we saw tonight will occur in every game this series.

These NBC talking heads are so ****ing worthless.

Vokoun shaky my ass.

If Fleury plays tonight this game is 6-0 Boston at least.

They've been beating that horse every moment they can. It's such a joke at this point. On the people to blame for this loss, Vokoun's name is pretty far down the list.

Big difference in the two goalies were Boston didn't hit 3-4 posts and the Pens did.

Letang has to start playing more responsibly. Getting a bit ridiculous with him out there. I have a long leash with criticizing his play but he cannot consistently give up odd-man rushes when he's out there.

Agreed. He does not act like a whinny, petulant child often but he sure did tonight. NO reason for it at all. He needs to regroup.

- Niskanen
-Eaton
-Crosby

Sutter and Morrow look useless as others have pointed out. Maybe time for Vitale,Bennet,Despres. Not Engo,he get abused as badly as Eaton does.

Need to get pucks out of zone and get passes by sticks. Had many opportunities to win this game. We need to watch playing O first....this is what will happen. Need D to stop the rushes. Can still take this series. Need to play simple.

The emotional style of hockey that we played through the flyers series and period 2 is fun to watch, but I think we are better off playing that emotionless style from last series. We seemed to just methodically pick ottawa apart and score goals. I don't understand why but we seem to dominate play but lose games when we play this style. Frustrating game to say the least..

Cooke won't get suspended cuz of that look back before McQuaid went into the boards.

There was onus on both players once he made that look back.

I'd inject Vitale in for Morrow or Jokinen.
Would love to see Bennett as well.

Niskanen has been a mess for awhile.
Despres in for him but that won't happen.
Eaton for Despres may happen though.

Hope they got all of the shenanigans out of their system cuz judging from last year and that 3rd period, it doesn't work for us.

Crosby and Malkin being stupid again. They act like no one is allowed to play well against them. Just **** and play. I hope Iginla pulls them aside and settles them down. This is the same crap they always do, especially Malkin. They get so obsessed with personal matchups and then play down to other players' level. Just **** and play. Be great. Shut up. WTH

You know, I honestly felt that Malkin fighting with Bergeron would light a fire under Sid's ***. I'm stunned that the exact opposite happened.

- Refs. Go **** yourselves. At least pretend to be unbiased once in a while. I would love to hear their explanation on the difference between the Cooke/Marchand hits.

- 3rd period. What a complete and utter joke of an effort that was. Way to coach them up Bylsma.

- Dan Bylsma. Hey [mod], how many more shorthanded breakaways do you need to see before you get Letang and Geno off the points together? Maybe the 2 on 0 tonight will open your eyes. Also, sneaky strategy keeping Iggy off the top PP, especially after seeing that Kunitz couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

- Mark Eaton. I can't really blame him. He shouldn't be in the lineup. Too slow. Too old. Too soft.

- Brandon Sutter. Speaking of slow and soft, is this ****ing guy for real? I'd rather see Dustin ****ing Jeffrey in for him at this point.

- Kunitz. Fanning on shots. Hitting a post on an open net. Don't know if he's still hurt or what, but he sucked.

- Net front presence. Wait, can you give a minus to something that's non existent?

- Kris Letang. As a Norris finalist, you should be making your partners look better. You don't. Nobody has played well all year with you. Maybe they're not the problem?

- HIT THE DAMN NET!!

+ Good effort the first two periods.

+ Vokoun played well.

+ PK was good.

+ Geno beating someone's ass.
